Your Seiko Mods
Since Steve broached the mod question, and since we now have an official Seiko forum, I thought a Seiko mod thread would be in order.
Feel free to add your mods, be they modest improvements such as sapphire crystals and ceramic bezels, to out of this world concepts only a mother could love. Below are just a few examples that have crossed my workbench over the years. dP

Cool modifications. I might need to do this to one of my Seiko's.

Great modifications Dan!
That super dome is amazing! I am planning to mod an SKX007 but I am pretty conservative and I will most likely limit it to a moderate super-dome and a luminous ceramic bezel insert with coin edge bezel. I am minded to do a movement upgrade, but I have the "J" model and so I'm reluctant to swap out the stock movement.

The Dagaz super dome is what you might be interested in. It doesn't leave a gap between the crystal and bezel and is only a slight dome. Coin edge bezels are available from Murphy, Crystal Times, and Yobokies. AFAIK, The J models are exactly the same [in every way] as the K but labeled differently depending on where they are sold. Some think these are made in Japan but that myth has been long debunked. dP

OK thanks Dan, so from what you say you would have no preference between the 'J' model and the 'K' model of a given watch.
I did see a Youtube where a guy was saying his "J" model seemed to have a high level of performing movement than a "K" but I think this was perhaps just an isolated anecdotal observation.

Steve,
This topic has been rather lively amongst Seiko fans. The overwhelming consensus is that there is no difference whatsoever between the J vs K versions. I've never seen any evidence to the contrary. Buyers saying they are willing to pay more for a J always reminded me of the so called Rolex "error stick dial" GMTs. The difference is hype over substance. But in either case, there's always someone willing to pay more regardless. dP
