Congratulations. Glad you are happy with what you landed.

Question though...what would you achieve by setting the 24 hour hand to GMT time? Do you have to reference that zone often?

Why not keep that hand the same as your home time - until you travel? Then, move the hour hand to your local time until you return home.

First, welcome and nice story about getting your GMT.

To your last point, you might consider GMT for the 24hr hand. Local Time would be redundant unless you live in a cave or mine deep underground and want to know whether it’s daylight at the surface.

My first watch was an Expl. II and I used GMT for 24hr hand. This was slightly useful for knowing what time the next F1 race would go G/F. But...learning that trick served me well later in business life.

I don’t know your business, but I was at a SE based Fortune 100 when I got the Expl. II and flew a lot across US. No more than 4 TZ’s to consider. But I could calculate global TZ’s via geo meridians in my head.

Fast forward 10 years and my “little” F100 company merged and bought some others and we were now Global top 10. I then had dozens of teams scattered in 12-15 TZ’s. Now my little 24hr hand trick @ GMT could keep track of what time it was for my teams.

You can imagine how helpful that was when I made “thank you” calls at the appropriate local time for them.

Otherwise I’d be calling at 3am local to memorialize that milestone

Long story to say go GMT, my friend.

I dont travel much at all especially out of my timezone, maby only every 2-3 years. My thought for gmt was its one less thing I have to change when adjusting the watch for day light savings time.... since gmt is always the same all I would have to do is snap the crown out and pop it back or forward an hour vs having to reel back the 24hr hand, change the date the correct th time. This is not a huge deal but for me it makes more sense? I could be wrong tho
