Excellent service from an AD in U.K.

Long term lurker here . I have owned a Date just for 16 years and have been wanting a SS sports watch for some time . Well got a call last Thursday to say that a GMT master 11 had come in and did I want it. ( I was on the list for a no date sub but said if a GMT master 11 comes in I would be interested) they gave me 24 hrs to think about it , I slept on it and I said yes please. I could not get to the shop until the following Saturday which was not a problem for them , they did take a £2000 deposit over the phone. Walked into the AD yesterday to pick it up and could not believe what happened after reading what sort of tricks AD in the U.K. are doing . I got asked if I wanted the stickers removed, which I said yes, and given the box , and warranty card. Anyway I could not be happier .

psychologically speaking, it takes five positive comments to erase the image of one negative one... so you are not wrong.

there are good AD's around, its just gets lost in the noise. Comment ratios are higher on negative stuff too, even if people say they hate it. Skim the good news and rant on the bad news

Congrats on the new piece - I have one and love it. However, I don’t think an AD should be congratulated for selling you a watch that is not that difficult to get and then simply provide you with everything you’re entitled to anyway? Sad state of affairs to see that this is now worthy of celebration!

First congrats. Secondly what you have described should be normal customer service.

Is it crazy we are over the moon when they meet our expectations...never mind exceed them!

Thanks for sharing, reassuring hear an AD success story. I've been lurking since the beginning of the year (short term lurker?) which is when I started looking to buy my first Rolex. Never realised the perseverance required to get hold of the SS models. Would love a BLRO, BLNR or Hulk (who wouldn't!?) but no luck with any ADs near me so far.

Been in South West England last few days and stopped off in the ADs down here. As expected, they haven't got anything in stock but all very welcoming and happy to chat. They don't run a 'list' they don't get enough watches to make it manageable. Makes me wonder if I'll ever hold the chance to buy the watch I want.

I'll keep getting to know my local ADs and trying my luck on my travels.

I understand the frustrations that some have had with ADs, but mine is great. I think it comes from being in a smaller city where they have a small town attitude of getting to know customers and building relationships.

Same here, smallish city of 100,000. My AD is very good about greeting repeat customers by name and remembering their coffee preferences. New employees learn the expected style of customer service very quickly. Sometimes, new employees are "bored and unhelpful" but then they disappear.
