New Seadwellers 2018 ref 126660

I have been patiently waiting for my shot at the SD43 (or SD50) Red Line 126600 from my AD in NYC. I am next up and hopefully will have one at msrp in next couple months. However, I just walked to Gray Market guys on 47th Street in NYC (tons of Rolex models if you are ever in NYC). One dealer had both the new 126660 DSSD in blue and black. He said they "have the wider band, but otherwise the same". Then I told him they had the 3235 70 hour movement. He didn't know that...kind of sad. He let me try on the black face DSSD. My take is that it is much more comfortable with the wider bracelet. Also, the "Original Gas Escape Valve and Ring Lock System" text seemed less obvious than on the previous version (just my take..maybe thinner font). He would sell me the black face for $12k which is below msrp. The Blue DSSD he wanted $15,500. My gut is to wait for the SD43 which I think I still like the most. I am also very uncomfortable buying from a non AD.

Your comment about the text "Original ... system" is correct. I was at a vip night of a boutique. The lady told me the innercircle is bit flatter than before. So the text is better readable.
I would just wait for the SD43 especially if you are next in line at the dealer.

The lugs are also different in the 2018 Deepseas.

Go with your gut. If you prefer the SD43, then I'd wait it out

SD43 is a much more balanced watch IMO.

The new 126660 is actually quite balanced due to the new bracelet/lug design. It is a big brute for sure but wears very well imho. Love mine. Good luck to the OP regardless of the decision.

Sounds like you were set on the SD. I'd wait for your turn at your AD.
Unless you are now questioning which you prefer now.

The old D-Blues will have more value in the market because

1) they are no longer made and

2) The text is more visible as you noticed.

And yes I am biased because I own one of the old lol !!

I am always questioning, and rethinking everything. However, I happen to like the cyclops a lot. When I think of Rolex sport watches when I was a kid, I always think of the Sub and GMT models with the date bubble. When that is missing, it just looks like a "knock off" Rolex to me. The Sub Date and GMT are just too small for my taste.

Absolutely wait, don’t jump on something because it’s in front of you. Get the watch you’ve had your eye on all along. The 126600 is stunning and perfect if you have a larger wrist like mine.

I like everything about the SD43 except....

the cyclops. That is the only thing preventing me from getting it.

I own a D-Blue and it actually wears very comfortably even on my 6.5" wrist. I also like the ring around the dial. I think it gives the dial more depth. I might end up picking up the black dial Deepsea when its price becomes more reasonable.

The DSSD is just too thick. Absolutely love the watch and I can do the size, but the thickness is a show stopper for me. Hold out for the SD43

The new 126660 is for sure a very balanced watch. The lugs shapes are very similar to the sd43, I was very excited when I went to collect mine.

I can’t wait to add the 126660 JC. The SD43 is a total keeper for me though.

Can’t go wrong with either tbh but why pay a premium for one when you can get the one you wanted originally for MSRP

Hang in there, it will be worth the wait
