Hi Guys

I have a couple of Rolex watches I bought on the grey market and still need the bracelets to be adjusted.

I had previously thought any 'AD' would do this as part of Rolex servicing etc. but have heard some will not do it unless they were purchased at that particular store....

Any thoughts?

Do it yourself, ADs have caused scratches from taking links out in the past with me.

I'm pretty sure my hand-eye coordination would leave it in a worse state

Do you need to heat up the bracelet to loosen up the loctite? Curious because I want to do this at home

I’ve never had to heat up the watch and never used loctite though I know others recommend the latter. All you need is a proper screwdriver

You may have to pay 10-20 quid... and up to 50 nicker in London town.

I bought a nos Sea Dweller 4000 online and Watches of Switzerland adjusted the bracelet for me. Originally they were going to charge £20.00 but then they levied no charge when I told them I had bought a DJ from them last year. So you should be able to get it done for free or for a modest charge.

I took my watch two days ago to an AD to adjust the bracelet. They explicitly told me that I could take the watch to any AD if further adjustments were necessary (there is one near my place, but I didn't go there because I bought it from a different store). I will go to the nearest AD next time.

Definitely, these sorts of things they do on site and all you have to do is wait 15 minutes.

Same for me I asked WOS to do it for me very nicely and politely and they obliged, even gave me a copy of Rolex magazine as well

You probably have to pay them to scratch it or you can scratch it for free

if you want to utilize their watchmaker which isnt a Rolex employee you need to pay for it. Not sure why an independent AD would give free services they pay for to non customers?

Maybe your grey dealer should offer these services, not sure why they dont

I agree that a proper screwdriver and YouTube video(s) are your friend here. It's part of the hobby. Learn how to do it.

You bought the watches on the grey market not from a AD so I would expect to pay a charge and me personally since I didn't buy it from them would gladly.

Either get the tools yourself and do it. (My route. As and when can be done) OR go to Rolex RSC in St James and get them to do it

1.6mm screwdriver has worked well for my new 114060. Works a treat, no need to heat anything. Do it yourself, use the right tool, be happy.

Once you hand your watch over to anyone else, anything could happen. Your watch may be scratched or dropped or who knows what.
