Good god. Even if he had 3-4 pieces taken, some of his are 100-200k. Thats a hell of a haul. Sad to hear, as some were hard to replace.

Wow. Beyond terrible. Mayer is very passionate about watches and has quite a collection. I believe he’s a regular contributor on Hodinkee. The Hodkinee interview with Mayer is is great. I hope they catch the scumbag that did this.

cant say i am shocked. and for those who think this is time specific it isnt, you just have 1 second news 24 hours a day now. bad things have happened throughout history. however now it is glorified by coverage.

Good reason to keep your collection in a bank vault.

I once saw a burglar dangling off of a cable wire at least ten stories up on a 20 story building. He kicked and kicked until he crashed thru the window. Bad news for him is the police were waiting for him inside.

You have to wonder why a lot of these celebrity homes lack alarm systems. Not that it's the end all be all but limits the time the intruder is in the house

This is what sucks about having nice stuff. Some wankers always want to take it from you.

Surely the items are unique and catalogued so if anyone tries to sell or service, hopefylly culprits will be caught

I know a bit about how he must be feeling. Bad people prey on others everyday. I don’t thing it is glorified by news coverage - the stories help remind everyone to take precautions for their own homes, etc.

Okay, now let's hear from all those people who think safe deposit boxes are a bad idea.

I'm sorry for John, though.

No one deserves to come home and find their place burgled and trashed.

The insurance can’t get you a rare vintage watch.
