What is the reason why we love watches so much?

I was recently asking myself the question multiple times why i seem to love the Rolex watches so much. Since im used to wear one i have problems with not wearing a wristwatch. Now i see A LOT of wristwatches around and most watches i see are just...... Boring, stupid or idiot persons rocking a nice watch but still the bug has bitten me really really hard...... In fact it is so interessing to me that it keeps me busy all the time, but why?? I don't see a watch as a necesarry item or as a fashion thing but there is something with it... Can't understand what the h it exactly means anyway.... Anyone the same dillema or an explanation WHY you like watches so much? Now since i started with watches i found a lot of brands interessing from Seiko to PP but it seems that only Rolex does the trick for me, the design is so strong that in my opinion it is unbeatable... Many watches i do like for a couple of days but than i forget about them. One thing i dislike about luxury watches is that at least in my country there are a lot of persons wearing one and also a lot of persons where you do not want to be associated with anyhow.... But it seems that it doesnt mind me to much and i really like to wear them myself anyway
