No doubt I could easily live with the SD4K as an only. It is my favorite.

I'd keep what you have. I've had my share of 16610's and a 116600 also. I'm generally a fan of 6 digit over 5 however not in this scenario. The 16610 is much more comfortable

Oh the other hand, I’m not a fan of any sub date (save the matte dial 16800 perhaps). The SD4K is a personal favourite of mine (my father has one, alongside the aforementioned subs). Ultramodern with modest proportions - really beats the SubC and basically everything else in the dive watch market.

If only I could keep them all and add the SD

Thanks again for all the reponses here. Can’t believe how divided opinion is on this trade.

Do you still have the 116600?

Very divisive indeed. This has been a constructive thread with some good opinions shared!

Yes it’s all very subjective, personally prefer the pre ceramics - seem to be more rough and ready - but let’s be honest the SD 4000 is a hell of a watch. It may be a little more difficult to get as the years wear on too; if you like the look of it I’d go for it.

It certainly has. What a fantastic forum this is as a platform for seeking this kind of feedback / opinion.

No way. Seadweller is nice and impeccably made, but you get a lot of thickness and weight (if I recall correctly) over a comparable Submariner just so it can be capable of things you’ll likely never do. For me, the trade off is too much. I can feel weight and thickness everyday. I don’t even like swimming, so the HEV and 1,200m WR are incredibly superfluous to me. Wonderful feats of engineering, but so is a spacesuit, and I don’t wear one of those everyday.

I would do it if the SD4K sings to you. If you ever missed the variety you currently have, you could save for and easily obtain another Speedmaster down the road.

That right there is my concern. I’d be gutted if I went ahead with the trade and found the dweller too uncomfortable to enjoy due to the weight. The tricky thing is that this is something you don’t fully appreciate until you’ve had the watch on the wrist for a while.

Ultimately, I think the only watch that settles the sd4k itch is going to be the sd4k
Then you have your answer. Dump both of the others. Watches can always be replaced. Buy the SD4K, and later you'll get the call to re-acquire one or the others of those you traded/sold, or something else will call out to you. Sounds like the SD4K is calling to you now. Good luck with whichever way you go, and post photos

As an owner and a massive fan of the SD4k I would NOT make that trade. 2 watches are always better than 1

That’s certainly a valid consideration - thanks

No I don't. I only had it for about six weeks before I flipped it. Great watch, just not for me

Do you mind if I ask why you let her go so quickly? Was it a size / weight thing or something else?

For me it's too uncomfortable for a daily watch. No matter what I tried. I tried adding a half link, moving links from side to side, different Glidelock adjustments, you name it. I just couldn't get a good fit with it. The weight is a noticeable difference also and it's chunky. Even comparing it to a 116610 or a 116710. I'm not knocking it as it's a great watch

I own an sd4k and speedy pro. Thinking of selling the speedy because I love wearing the sd4k way too much. It can most definitely be a one and only watch and to me is just as comfortable as any other watch I've owned. I would 100% make that trade every day for the rest of my life.
