1000th post advice.

Just realised I’m on 999 posts, so think my 1000th should be a milestone post.

Firstly thank you to everyone for the great forum - the spirit here is great and very welcoming.

Secondly I’m 18 months away from my 50th birthday - that’s still quite a long time to go. I want something special. I’ve never had a gold/precious metal watch of any kind as I’ve always been a SS professional type of person. I currently have a white dial Daytona, new Pepsi, coke, deep sea blue, white sky dweller, sd43 and a sub, oh and a seamaster.

For my 50th I’d like something different to steel. My favourite watch is probably the platinum Daytona but without selling some of my other watches it’s out of my price range. Up to maybe 30k, possibly a bit more for the right watch. I prefer lighter dials in the main but not totally set on that. I’d prefer Rolex but happy to consider alternatives. Leaning towards bracelet but would consider leather if not Rolex.

I realise it’s quite vague, but I’ve got 18 months to make the right decision. Greatful for suggestions and pictures.

Thanks all

Hi Stephen,

I had a bit of a tidy up with my Collection and bought myself a Platinum for my 50th a few years back , You won’t regret it , it’s very special there is nothing like it and there is some fantastic deals about ,

So my vote is PT Daytona

DD40 would be a great pick up, IMO... Good luck waiting

For a Rolex a gold Daytona sounds good for you, OF would be my choice, or a DD40, for a Patek I'd look at the 5712R, very nice piece, altho prices are rising.

A DD or PM sports model would be a nice addition.. but if you want to venture outside of Rolex, how about a 5167R?

Paul, deep down that’s the one I’ve wanted since the day it came out and who knows 18 months is a quite a way still.

Gold Daytona always appealed. Had a 5711, great watches, must try a 5712r sometime.

Some great ideas so far, thanks

I think with your collection a DD40 would fit in very nicely, and be the icing on the cake, so to speak.

That said, it sounds like the Platona is your grail. Go with what makes YOU happy.

With your collection I agree on the DD40 coming your way. I like the WG myself. Of course the platinum is the killer.

Congratulations on your 1000th post!

I am only half way to 1000, however I have already started planing the celebration.

If you are not 100% set on Rolex (I would mix it up), check out some of the AP offering. AP is just on a different level though it really depends on your style when it is on your wrist.

I saw a black pearl, platinum, white gold Daytona (I believe) at an AD few weeks ago with MSRP of $86-88k. It is a beauty and someone would totally buy it if they have some other exotics in their collection already.

Great collection!

I'd add the 116618LB

Not too far from your comfort zone, but a lot different than what you already own

I have had the same thoughts, both in my 1000 post approaching, and a huge milestone birthday in about a week. Still can't believe it, but at least I'm on the right side of the dirt still.

Nothing in the gold family is screaming at me, especially for that kind of money..... maybe that's a good thing.
