If it’s a Day-Date it has to be YG for me, absolutely love it. But everyone has their own tastes, so what do you like...

I used to want the YG. But after a couple of years visiting multiple ADs and trying on different DD40 configurations both YG and RG with different dials, I concluded that I’d go with RG. And I did so with no regrets. YG is the ultimate classic DD. But I think that RG is more verstatile and can be worn to complement my different clothes wear in different settings. I feel like with that amount of investment, I could get more use out of the RG. It is good middle ground between the YG and WG. I’d say keep trying them day-dates on. Take pictures. And you will decide which one is best for you, depending on your skin tone, purpose, work, other watches in your collection etc.

RG > WG > .... YG with the olive green dial! It's stunning and unique!

I just purchased a RG with chocolate Romans (will post pics soon!)...it was a long process for me in choosing between YG and RG, as you can probably see from my old threads.
What it came down to for me was wearability - I'm a jeans and tee kind of guy, and the YG is just so flashy against my tan skin. Plus, that chocolate dial is so different from my Hulk and 16710. Can't believe I even thought otherwise, but RG is definitely the right choice in my case. Also, as someone stated earlier, who cares about what RG means in the long term, as long as you love it now! I don't think tastes will change heavily over the next 10 years, and there are so many brands with RG as a primary these days that I think the staying power is there (AP, Patek, Rolex...)

To me it is white gold. The warm luster is stunningly different on the flesh compared to cold SS.

It also really depends on skin tone. I was originally looking at the Yellow Gold with Champaign dial and Gold Roman Numerals. When my wife and I went to an AD, my wife said the Rose Gold colour (which I would never had considered) looks beautiful on my wrist. She said she also thought it looks too much (gaudy was her exact word), but she said when she saw it on my wrist, she said it works.
Now I am thinking about the Rose Gold with Green dial. |

White gold , olive green dial. For me YG & RG just look too ostentatious. You can wear a WG or PLT Day ryDate with a suit or a polo shirt and jeans. It’s a very versatile watch

I'm a white gold or platinum guy for PM...if I felt I could pull it off, I love how rose gold looks for a DD, with the green dial

It looks perfect on your wrist, justdate. I´ve tried on several YG DD40s but never got the chance to try the champagne dial. Do you ever get bored of this timeless combination and sometimes wish you picked a different dial version? |
