Saving an abandoned 3155 movement
I inherited a box of rolex watch parts which includes a 3155 movement with dial and hands intact. What can I do with it? There is no band and no case. Looking for options to bring it back to life. I assume that it needs to be serviced.

I’m always a buyer for movements if you’re selling. Pm me. These usually require a complete tear down and rebuild.

It was my grandfather's. He and I shared an interest in watches. So, it has sentimental value to me and it would be great if I could finish this project. Just looking for suggestions to make it work.

With the sentimental value attached, I personally would get it serviced and working. Then, I'd probably try to find a close vintage case and dial to put it together with. Put it on leather, NATO strap, or a matching vintage bracelet.....then enjoy it in memory of your Grandfather! The dollar value may not be there, but the sentimental value will probably skyrocket for you.

First thought, sell. Second thought, Grandfather's watch, have it restored and wear it.

Laww or rik dietel... both will get it running like a top. You’ll need quite a few parts to complete a watch, but it’s be a nice way to honor pops. Everything can be had a patience on the bay.

I appreciate everyone's helpful suggestions and am optimistic about being able to put this watch back into service. I have found remnants of a WG DD band. So, that's the direction I'll head.

Can you show pictures of what you have? I think you might be able to fit it on a Datejust or Tudor Date Day 36mm case; finding a solid gold case for it always an option but would think it is harder to source Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I'm traveling for the holidays. So, I cant take a pic until next week. I'm only interested in a PM setup. My preference would be RG, but I believe I have much of a WG president bracelet. So, im thinking that's the most practical (PM) path. Ive started looking at vintage dials. I suspect a DD case will be difficult and then I worry about the case being from a stolen watch....so many challenges.
