It's the best value you are going to get on the used market and I've learned to love the watch overtime.
If I ever do buy another Rolex, this is very high up on my list. I've tried on the 6 digit references in person and it is testing the limits of my wrist. |

Seems that while everyone wants a Batman, Hulk or any Daytona the EXP 2 is flying right under the radar. Cool for us wearers,

Outcast, Underdog? I say not, no more. They don't sit like they used to and there are wait lists for them in the last six months.

I just can't grow to love the orange GMT hand.
So, it's gonna be an older polar explorer when the time comes. Most likely it will be the third in my collection. Stacking pennies for the BLNR now, as a present to myself for getting through Grad school in less than a year. Once I get gainfully employed in my new career, I'll start saving for a piece like the one Bas posted to celebrate my new profession. |

Great watch, wear it with pride. Would go for the black reference myself.
People chase Hulk and Batman because of the hype. I recall the time when I could walk into an AD and see those guys sitting side-by-side collecting dust.

I am very new to luxury watches and really have the bug. I have a 7.75" wrist so when I was looking for a Rolex the Explorer II 42mm seemed to be the watch for me. I bought a pre-owned a couple months ago. When the family was out of town for Thanksgiving I made my way to a local AD. They happened to have a SD 43 just sitting in the case, so I bought it. They are shipping it to me to save Tax so it'll be interesting to see how I like them worn on my wrist when the SD arrives. It has been almost a week since I did the transaction and in the mean time I keep looking at the Explorer II on my wrist thinking how great it looks.

For larger wrists they are a great watch. Personally I am keen on a 40mm size. I seem to find them readily in AD's which is a plus for those after them. I found the black and white dial versions at an AD in Lancaster, PA. Whenever I travel I make it a point to stop at various AD's just in case one of my grail watches happens to be there.

My go-to travel watch — this is coming from someone that flys nearly every week.
I love how it flys under the radar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you own a air king? That’s the most polarizing watch Rolex makes imo. I think the explorer ll especially the polar is popular. The black face not as much although that was my choice when I bought one. Was my second Rolex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have five Rolex watches and the Explorer II is my go to watch when I travel across the pond. My other Rolex watches are the Submariner, Daytona, 41 DJ and 36 DJ.
If there is a Rolex I'm softening on, it's the Daytona. I'm always looking for the date on the watch and then remember, no date :-( My Explorer II is not unloved. Sorry. |

They have definitely moved up the Rolex, SS sports watch food chain since not much else is available.
I have always loved mine and like it even more because it is not that popular. When the new 2019 Basel releases come out everyone will forget about the EXPII again. |

It would have been interesting to see what the love for the 216570 would have been if it was the first to receive the 3285. But if all the other Rolex models eventually get the 3285 movement as well ..........

I like the "cave" Explorer more than the Polar one personally. I will definitely consider getting one once the new movement has been implemented.
