Official TRF frequent flier complaint thread.

This is for us frequent fliers, (I did over 100,000 miles last year and will come close to about the same for 2018) we can immediately identify those that fly once or twice a year, and trust me, they annoy us. They WAYS they annoy us... I could go on but... who wants to start?

I Will.

#1. If your ticket says boarding group seven, DON'T LINE UP NEAR THE DAM GATE WHEN THEY HAVEN'T CALLED GDOUP ONE, YOU ARE IN MY WAY AND I HAVE TO PUSH THROUGH YOU TO GET ON THE PLANE!!!!!!

Oh, here's another. If you can't read, don't fly. For example: If the security line says: TSA precheck, or First class or premium or something else, DON'T GET IN THAT LINE! oh, and DON'T ARGUE WHEN THE SECURITY GUY SENDS YOU TO THE OTHER LINE.

While we are at it, the same complaint goes for the ticket line.

What else? Oh, how about realizing you're not the only one on the plane? I flew out Yesterday morning and I swear, I guy was standing in the middle of the isle of the plane tapping out an email on his phone... didn't even bother with the 210 other people trying to get on.

What else?

Oh, if you are in seat 49, DON'T PUT YOUR OVERSIZED CARRY ON IN THE SPACE OVER MY SEAT MARKED: "FOR FIRST CLASS SEATS ONLY"

I could go on.. and on... Call me pompous, call me an A##, call me whatever you like, but I spend a lot of times on planes and I know how to work the system, and YES, I DO get privileges because I am a frequent flier, good customer, spend a lot of money on tickets, whatever, but I have earned those privileges so DEAL WITH IT.

OK, rant over.... I just have to deal with too much on airplanes these days.

Luckily I always fly in the front and don't have to deal with that. Apart from that I signed up for Privium and have a Skyteam Platinum card, check in, security and immigration in 5 minutes

Flying brings out the worst in people sometimes. Those that are inept become more inept and those who are inconsiderate become even more inconsiderate. I’ve seen people speak to people in ways you wouldn’t speak to an enemy, let alone a stranger or fellow commuter

If your dog isn’t trained to travel and/or doesn’t like it, board it or leave it at home.

What, you mean I have to remove my liquids (when there is no pre-check line)? What, my shoes too? You mean I cannot bring a 2L of coke with me through security? Rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

The clowns that do not let the people in front of them get off (when deplaning) and try and push through the crowd. This is a constant issue -- let the row in front out and then the next one, not some free for all where you may save yourself 30 seconds while pissing everyone else off in the process.

"Excuse me, I am boarding group 1 (someone pushing me aside to board)" to which I respond, "good to know as I am global services, I guess I will see you when they let you board."

in Europe especially, the parents traveling with children was abused beyond belief. I have seen parent use teenagers to get them to board first.

I buy the third party boarding service, complain about my bad knees and messed up back, get the wheel chair ride and board before you. Then I have them put my carry on in the first class bin so I don't have to drag them down the aisle from row 65. I insist the flight attendants deplane me first.

This all costs about $75 bucks more than the regular super el-cheapo ticket. So other than the fat seat up front, I'm flying first class for less than full fair economy. Brahahahaha!

I hear ya. It's like people lose their minds when flying. There is a little lady that works the gate at Niagara Falls airport that scolds the people who are clueless and don't follow instructions. It's funny to watch her in action.

Lol. Well said all! A salesman that worked for my dad years ago flew frequently. He referred to them as “Infrequent Flyers”!

Cattle are much easier to manage. Give them an open alley and they will follow it on their own.

I think US carriers do premium class bass ackwards. They should board last, after the other classes are on board and buckled in. Sit in the lounge until the airline calls for premium classes, then straight to your seat. No masses of flesh to push through, no people banging their belongings on you as they pass through.

I flew business/first a lot in the middle east and south asia. Boarding last was much more relaxing.

Hmm, that sounds like what the privileged boarders expect, no?

You can also accomplish that by boarding the back of the plane first. Boarding front to back is a recipe for a cluster fluck.

People who board the plane carrying a handbag, duffle-sized purse, backpack and oversized carry-on bag. Then pack it all in the overhead bins, leaving no room for those of us who bring one carry-on bag. Why don't airlines force the carry-on rules?

Agreed. I always check my bags, so I'm never in a hurry to board, regardless of group number. I'd just assume sit in the lounge, as you suggest above.

This, so irritating. I always check a bag and pay for it, then I carry a small soft briefcase that I like to put in the overhead. Sometimes, my tickets are paid for by work and I get crappy seats. Finally board only to find there is no overhead space left and at 6'3" I am stuck with my bag under my chair because 80% of the flight violates the carry on rules.

I only do 20-40K a year, but the cattle analogy is spot on. I hate flying anymore. Last year was a slow year so I do not have status on Alaska this year. Really sucks...I should regain my status this year!! Not that it makes that much difference but boarding early at least I can use an overhead bin.

I try really hard not to check luggage. Usually it’s my carry on Tumi and a leather mailbag type briefcase with my laptop and work supplies.

unfortunately you have to be firm with people on planes. I told a guy he was sitting in my ticketed seat last week. He says "Well, that's great!" sarcastically... So I told him: "I'm not being rude. You're being rude. Please get out of my seat."

When this happens to me I'll will start moving the other items in the bin around. I've even squished them down or back in order to make room for my small bag. I'll push hard or punch them a bit to compress them. You should see the looks I get from some people 3 or 4 rows back (you know who you are) but no one ever says a word.

Over the years I've learned to minimize flying as much as possible. If I can't do first or business class, I'll do my best to get out of the trip.

Other than that...

1. If you can't understand the benefits of TSA Pre, do not use TSA Pre.

2. "Wheels in first," "bins are larger on X side," or "all bins are full" are not magic code words; interpret them literally.

3. If they wanted to call "arm rest" "foot rest," they would have done so. (Happens mostly in the cattle class.)

4. When flying internationally, speaking louder to an attendant whose first language is not English does not make the attendant understand you better.

5. When you recline w/o checking w the person behind you, you become a ***k head in an instance.

6. Smelly fast food does not belong on the plane (or in your stomach).

7. If you sit in the middle seat and there are empty aisle or window seats, you're doing it wrong. And yes, people who know stare and judge you.

8. There is a difference between dressing comfortably yet stylish and whatever the f**k you put on today. Use a mirror.

9. If you're older than 10, learn how two clean up after yourself in the bathroom.

And how about Joe idiot, who’s seat is in row 29, but could only squeeze bin space in row 43. Then when getting off he tried to push his way past 20 rows of people to get his bag because he thinks it’s his turn to exit the plane so he has the right.

I hate to fly. And I didn’t fly too often.

So it was worth it to me to pay for first/business. But lately I’m flying a lot more. And there appears to be a lot in my future. Good problems I suppose.

But all the points you make ring true. And f yes....when I’m paying good money I do expect better, easier, more comfortable accommodations. And it’s not always possible based on everyone feeling they deserve something, for nothing.
