Visions of a 116618LB Dancing in my Head

Debating on doing a little consolidation and adding some cash for a YG Sub LB. Probably move my 116613LB and 16570 Polar plus cash. That would leave me with 116618LB, 114060, and 116610LV. Yes I like SUBS!

I know it sounds crazy to have 3 of the same model, but it works for me. Only real difference in my set is losing a white dial sport model and moving from TT to full YG. Wife has a 116231 white diamond dial DJ if I need a white dial to wear...

Only other watch consideration is to stand pat and wait it out to add a 126710BLRO.

The reason for the post is for those who have/had a 116613LB and moved or added a 116618LB--what are your thoughts?

Looking forward to hearing experienced members chime in. I own a 116613LB and love it. I am always toying with trying full gold, but for me it would be black dial and five digit 16618ln. I dont know what it is, I love my six digit bluesy and 114060, but I find the six digit solid gold subs a little too much. A little strange I know..

Love both, the TT and the 18k. I could happily live with either in my collection, and have at different times. But, for me, the key is what is the rest of the collection looks like.

It sounds like you're not sold on losing the polar. Nor should you be. I guess at this point you're looking at a collection of three subs, one of them TT, a polar and a BLRO vs. a collection of three subs, one of them full gold.

So...it would seem then that your choice is really a larger and more diverse collection vs. a smaller, less diverse collection with a PM. No wrong answers here...just depends on your preferences, IMO.

And...speaking of my opinion (which means nothing), my recommendation is that you either flip the TT by itself for the 18k, or don't flip anything. The "twofer" has never worked out for me, personally.

There is nothing like the full YG Sub w/ sunburst dial. Been wearing mine for a year and a half now. Have had SS Subs and TT Subs in the past. Full gold is magic. The glow, shine, weight, everything about it.

I’d do it. Like others said....full gold is fantastic as long as you’re comfortable with it. Also...nothing wrong with those three subs, as a collection, as they’re all very different on the eyes as far as color. I mean... if you love subs, and you wouldn’t be tired of looking at a sub everyday....it’d be a great trio!

Thanks for the feedback/enabling everyone.

Good insight Larry regarding the Polar. I had a full RSC restoration done in February. It is the nicest 20+ year old T serial I have seen. Perfect tritium dial and hands and everything else is brand new, even the bracelet. Probably sell that privately if she goes.

No problem here wearing full YG, kind of an 80's throwback guy so that is a non issue. I will grind on this for a couple days and see where I go.

Hey Mark think it's a great idea, I to have been thinking about it I think the 116618LB is the best of the best for a sub guy. I only have three and would have to dump two and pony up some cash just don't know if I'm ready. I think I would keep the explorer sounds like a real beauty.

Lol, great story from yesterday.
I work in healthcare. Really do not talk watches with anyone at work except 2 people.
Buddy I work with for 20 years and a good friend wears a nice vintage DJ his Father left him. We were discussing watches yesterday. Told him I am thinking about the full gold Sub. He says, “dump all your other junk for that gold Sub. Even if you trade your whole collection it is worth it to have that FU gold Sub”. Cracks me up. He says the gold Sub suits me. Not sure that is a compliment...lol

I think you will like it. And if not it is a watch that is desirable to TS here in trade for something else or sale. Keeping mine and very happy with it. For myself, it is the pinnacle of all Subs. Make sure you get the best possible price and if going the TS route, reach out to many of them before you pull the trigger.

Thanks brother. Already had some discussion with David. But you are correct, I should shop a little. Although I do like David and try to stay loyal. I have the cash so the smart thing would be to deal with the hassle of selling privately and just pay cash. I’ve sold lots of watches over the years so while a time waster definitely better

Good luck, Mark...keep us posted.

I think it's a sign you and the "FU" sub were meant for each other.
