Amazing lunch at Alyn Williams
We had another fabulous meal yesterday at Alyn Williams (at The Westbury hotel - Mayfair.)
Perfect service, presentation and food. The dining room provides lovely surroundings, with a combination of wood panelling and modern use of glass, metal and light. Absolute highlights were the pigeon, roasted cod and sweetbreads. The dessert selection was wonderful too. Can highly recommend as a meal destination.

Really worth a visit - great experience from booking through to departure. We even got a goodie bag to take away with us at the end.

Yes so many incredible restaurants to choose from. It is nice to be back for a few days.

I love London food.
Alyn Williams is great and is one of hundreds of cracking restaurants in the city. Try the tasting menu at La Dame de Pic - a true gem of a restaurant imho. Get a bottle of Domaine De Villeneuves La Griffe to go with it (not expensive) and you will be in heaven. Start with a couple of cocktails at the bar especially if Alessio the head barman of Four Seasons is around! |

I pass by every time I'm in town for some watch window shopping but I've never been inside apart from for a watch deal, looks nice. Last time I was in town we had Five Guys, but we also finally went to Paul A Young Chocolatiers in Soho for some incredible brownies, salted caramel truffles and hot chocolate. A must for me from now on as they don't post.

Should be great, have fun, I've eaten at Dinner by Heston and also had the 14 courses at the Fat Duck a few years ago, dinner and a show, amazing experience!

We love Le Gavroche, possibly the best cheese trolley. Haven’t been to Fortnum’s restaurant so will have to take a look one day. Was really nice to be back this time of year with all the lights up, the extra pedestrianised areas on New Bond Street are a great improvement too.

Thanks for the tip, just looked at their menu - that will be on the future visit list. Great to have so many fellow gourmands and bon viveurs on TRF. When it comes to the culinary arts, London really spoils for choice.

Amazing lunch at Alyn Williams

Not been to Heston’s Dinner, but a friend who has also enjoyed it very much. Went to Bray many years ago now for the tasting menu and had a kitchen tour which was great. They were doing the bacon and egg ice cream back then, and liquid Nitrogen amuse bouche, not sure if it’s still on the menu these days. Definitely a forerunner for molecular gastronomy.

Just got back. Food still great at Heston's including the delicious tipsy cake. 6 of us and we all got a bit sloshed. Started with a couple of bottles of Dosnon Blanc de Blanc Champagne, moved on to a Rhone white and red and then ended on a couple of bottles of Chateau Gloria St Julien (trying to extract some value from their crazy wine list). Cocktails as well.
The place still has a great buzz. It was packed to the rafters. |

That AP Factory tour was just a haze - crazy amount of drink. Especially the first evening with the unlimited budget and an awesome wine list!
Regardless of the alcohol, great company made that trip a superb one for me. All of us got along so well. Right down to the mad last minute "best pizza I have ever had" at Geneva airport . |

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=598980 And I see that Clare Smyth was voted female chef of the year by the World's 50 best restaurants guide, and Fat Duck has made a re-entry after a few years away. I was there also in the bacon and eggs ice cream and sounds of the sea days, but missed out on the snail porridge. |

So thats Clare Smyth and Fortnums added to my to do list.
Any other tips? Please keep em coming ! Anyone been to Bob Bob Ricard? I know its an old place but I have never been. Not fine dining but it looks pretty eclectic. I don't mind sacrificing a tiny bit of food quality for more atmosphere. https://www.bobbobricard.com/ Btw I have tried Murano by Angela Hartnett as well as Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley and they were ok. Didn't wow me to be honest. Same with Fera. |
