My obsession with Rolex started in 1983, as a 5 year old I was mesmerised by my uncles solid gold president day-date. I remember it cost around the same as what my dad paid for our house.

Ever since then I have looked up to my uncle and aspired to owning such a beautiful watch one day. After forgetting about watches for a long time, I became obsessed again after seeing a TT blue sub on the internet a few years ago. When my uncle came home for my wedding, I was looking forward to seeing what he was wearing....I wasn't dissapointed. A solid gold day-date ( not the one he had on the 80s) with champaign dial and diamond markers....or so it seemed!!!!

Once I handled the watch I could clearly see it was nowhere heavy enough to be solid gold (felt the same weight as my SS DJ). The watch also had polished shoulders but was the old style bracelet. The diamond baguettes were far much thinner than I have seen on this model.

I really think he does not know he was scammed. He buys most of his watches from pawn shops and thinks he's getting a good deal. He has a gold yachtmaster, Day-date and a gold Daytona. I wonder if these are also rip offs??

The big question is, should I tell him and how should I approach it??

there are also alot of mix and match day dates about. old cases, new dials, in between bracelets. All genuine rolex but from different watches all into one.
Personally you should do what feels right. I would tell him but then again i dont know how he will react to the news.
