Ughhhh I keep coming back to this watch! I tried one on at the Las Vegas AD last year and it's an awesome watch. I keep trying to talk myself out of one but then I get drawn back in despite rising prices. Should have pulled the trigger years ago. Congrats!!

Many congrats, mate! I enjoyed reading your post and I am in a very similar situation now, as I am from china so I was worried if the 41mm is too big for my wrist but after reading your post, I decide to try both again and hopefully I will join the AP family very soon.

Nice review. I had the 15300 (blue dial) and sold it in 2010 before the prices went to the moon. ( Stupid mistake) . When I saw your 15400 vs 15300 photos , I had to agree the 15400 dial looks more proportional, and in MHO is a better looking watch .
However, as much as I love the looks of the 15400, I can't get used to the size of the 15400 . I tried one on at my AD and it looked humungous on my 6.75" wrist (My AD who has a 7.5" wrist said it wears big for a 41mm watch ) . The 39mm size of the 15300 would be perfect, but unfortunately it is no longer available new, and the current 39mm Jumbo has essentially the same dial as the 15300 , which looks a bit dated in comparison to the 15400. I am sure others like the size of the 15400, but for me it may take some getting used to before I take the plunge again. I wish AP would re-introduce the 39mm size on the standard Royal Oak at the same price point as the 15400 . Again , thanks for the great review . |

Love this story and read the whole thing. Very enjoyable. I really love and appreciate that you went with the watch that spoke to you instead of following the crowd and going with the “correct” purist choice. ( I.e. blue dial and 39mm). Very rare to see this these days, especially with social media. Cheers!

Indeed the dial of the AP Royal Oak 15400 is beautiful. Thank you for sharing a fantastic review!
