116710LN Decision?

Seen a couple of 116710LN's in grey dealers near me... one is a 2012 used model for £6.5K (current new retail) just had service and polish and looks as good as new... or a brand new 2018 model for £7.5K (£1K over new retail)... Which one would you take? Does the newer watch justify the £1K premium for being new and benefiting from the longer warranty etc? Keen to see people's thoughts on this one.

I personally would take the 2012 just serviced for retail price. I don’t believe in paying over msrp. Ymmv.

If it was me I would start to search around the ADs to see if you can get one at list price in the next 3-6 months. They are out there and I am sure with a little patience you will get one. If I had to make a choice between the two watches you have listed then I would pay the premium for the newer example.......although it would need to be totally unmarked/mint condition. Good luck with your search.

I'd wait it out and try to get a new one from an AD at MSRP. I personally would not pay current retail for a 6 year old GMT LN, even if it was just serviced.

Get round a few ad’s. These are about and you may get some traction as most walk in asking about BLRO and Daytona.

Thanks for the advice, I thought these would be just as hard to get out of an AD new as all the other SS sports models at the mo, but maybe I have a better chance with this! Cheers

Between the two, I'd get the 2012. But as others have said, you may be able to find one from an AD if you put in some work.

If you can negotiate a bit more off the new, I'd go that route and have the watch now. Otherwise, i'd try to find a way to get it at an AD and just put in some legwork

As others have said, check some ADs. You should be able to find one or get one in not too long of a time.

If you're dead set on getting one ASAP go with the 2012, don't pay over retail for an LN.

I would buy new. Name on the card is nice and worth the premium if it’s a watch you intend to be a keeper.

The LN is not as hard to get hold of compared to the other GMT references, so I would personally try and get new at retail from an AD, even if it means waiting a couple of months.

I believe many will say go for the 2012 model because they do not want to pay over retail but technically, you are paying £1k over, which ever one you go for and because of that I would rather a brand new 2018 watch with 5 years warranty.
I would not pay current retail for a 6 year old watch.

If you want one you’ll get one from an AD, it make take a few months but as others have said it’s not a model they will be pestered for all the time. The time of the year is in your favour too. I bought one new from an AD last October and it’s a great watch

You said in another thread that you had your eye on a PM watch. If you go into several AD’s and say “if you get me 116710LN then I’ll buy a PM watch from you at the same time” then you’ll get the watch at retail within weeks from one of them.

The GMT operates pretty much like a Rolex used to, so new is nice but costs more, while used is better value, at first I bought a couple of used watches but soon found only new/unworn would do for me.

I think you should try AD route too.
My friend got one, was told if he left a £500 deposit he would get one fairly quickly.
He declined but found one on holiday in AD window in Spain, well pleased with it, got it pre-price increase too, but was caned on the Euro/£ conversion so it would have been cheaper here! (but he was wearing it by then)
Supposedly it is one of the more possible ones to get.
If you do decide to go s/h don't get the older one as it will soon be within dateline for £££ service.

I would take my time and go the AD route, for list price.
