*******Basel 2009 Predictions*******

Lets hear some of the predictions at what Rolex might introduce at Baselworld 2009.

1) Updated TT Sub with Cerachrome Bezel, Supercase and updated Glidelock clasp, it's kinda given Rolex S.A. will introduce one seeing they did it with the GMT IIc. This one is kinda easy to predict.

2) Bi-color GMT IIc in both Blue/Red and Black/Red combinations, or Pepsi & Coke versions.

3) Updated Platinum & Steel Yachtmaster growing from 40mm to 43mm just like the YM II, and it will have the updated Glidelock clasp just like the SDDS & newer Subs.

4) Daytona will be kept as is.

For 2) I really doubt that.

For 3) No way the YM will come in 43 mm and even more so, it won't have the glidelock clasp. It will probably have the new "GMT IIc" clasp though.

For 4) The Daytona has already got the GMT IIc clasp so you are probably right.

Bye the way: I think the new TT ceramic sub will come with both a black bessel / black dial version and a blu bessel / blue dial version. When the SS ceramic subs comes in 2010 I think it will only be available in the black / black version.

I do hope they will do something with the Daytona though

Friend of mine found this pic somewhere and sent it to me and I've been drooling ever since. Total fantasy but I do like the black date wheel with white numbers.

Best regards,

X2 or Xthio.

Joe100 those are a SWEET pair of watches.
Especially the Coke bezel GMT IIc.

I still think that the S/S sub won't be upgraded till Basel 2010.

I don't think we'll see the SS sub until 2010 either.

I'm glad you guys like those pictures. I have no idea who made them but I like their style. If you look closely they call it the "GMT Master III". Some nice subtle changes without ruining the design.

Hundred percent certain of a TT ceramic sub. As for Pepsi and Coke-style GMT II Cs, I've heard Rolex won't do that unless they can make it in one continuous piece, which I believe they're having problems with at the moment. I'm also a fan of JJ's suggestion of a 41mm DJ, I think a larger size would suit it well.

As I've said before, I think it's the year of an updated Explorer, more likely the Explorer II. It's in desperate need of some TLC.

Hi guys,
Looking at the process how this ceramic bezel insert is made, the only way to have a two tone will be making two halves separately... I doubt they will be able to make it in one piece. It will be like trying to make a black and white chocolate cake, and expect to have two perfect halves.
I work in a company which has a foundry, so I have some expertise in iron based alloys... I know this is different, but you can expect what to get from materials that fusion at high temperatures like this one.
This is just my opinion, but Rolex is Rolex, and maybe they have the technology to accomplish the task...

Regards,
Alfredo

I'm ok with not having a two-tone ceramic bezel, but I'm not ok with a black only GMT Master. That would be akin to Rolex saying "hey guys, you see that blue bezel on the new submariner? well, get used to it...no more black bezels." The entire population of this forum would collectively suffer a stroke. haha.

Part of the allure of the GMT Master is the history. They should go back to steel or use some other composite material. No one ever said it had to be ceramic. They're all starting to look the same: Black Sub, black DSSD, black GMT...

Oh well,

Best regards,

J.

Updated Explorer 1. In the 41mm Day-Date Case. Slightly domed crystal. Matte Dial. Maxi-Hands, and new style brushed SS Bracelet. My dream Rolex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, that is just that, a dream.

I think this year, you will see an updated Explorer II. Similiar to the GMT II-C, but with fixed bezel. And you will see TT Sub, updated.
