I also asked about a Daytona and the salesman said I had to spend $10k to be considered for one...he then said that if I wanted to put a deposit on one along with any other Rolex sports model...that'd work too. ;)

I think these AD's are a bit behind on the SS Daytona requirements. That was the case in the Chicago 'burbs many months ago, but my local AD had one in the case just before Christmas, sold for MSRP. They say MSRP is their practice on the watch. Same at the next closest AD. They also had:

M-Pepsi
M-Coke
LV-Sub
Milgaus (two), recently sold green
GMTII-C
SeaDweller (no Deep Sea)

I think supply has caught up to demand.

These watches are designed to last 25 to 30 years, so polishing them every 5 makes sense.
I don't believe this is true. The only way I imagine one could dull the finish of 904L steel would be to polish it at too high of a speed and get it too hot. Otherwise it is the same steel all the way through and does not lose it's ability to be polished to a very high luster, probably ever. After all, this is one of the foremost desirable qualities of 904L steel.

Now you do lose material everytime you polish, which becomes more of a problem with each polishing, but I think in this case the AD is misleading you with incorrect information. Also, to state that the cases are designed to last 20-30 years is just foolish. The cases are designed to last practically forever with proper care and service.
