Is it possible SS DayC prices can surpass PM DayC prices?!
Hey Guys—
116500s look to be gobbled up around here at the 21-23k zone depending on condition. Have we hit whackyville—is it possible the secondary market pricing for a SS DayC can surpass a PM DayC? Is a correction in sight or is this the new reality for the Daytona line. Will buyers get burned paying these amounts for a SS sports watch? Always appreciate the inputs! Have a wonderful Sunday. It all depends on how much will a buyer is willing to pay. If sellers cannot sell at silly prices then it will stabilize at a certain point. I for one will go PM rose gold if SS closes in. Nothing beats the feeling of having full gold on your wrist.

No it won’t last forever and it’s non sensical. These are mass produced watches by a mass produced manufacture. Eventually prices will come down, maybe not back to msrp but they will.

its possible.... until you get a full PM WG daytona with a ceramic bezel. Getting an OF one is very hard, on a bracelet and priced anywhere near the secondary market SS prices won't happen. Thats going to be a over retail full PM watch. No doubt
Im guessing YG and RG will be a lot more popular than the non ceramic versions as well I suspect the WG OF is more attractive due to the closeness in price to the SS version even if its on rubber which is probably not most peoples first choice.

The Pt would require some collection consolidation which may not be a bad thing as i dont like having more watches than i actually wear so it could be the perfect excuse.

You mean this one below Ninja?
I know the WG is more popular and possibly rarer but the 116515LN is gorgeous! I'd try this one on Tyler before pulling the trigger. |

Great question OP... Very sad testament as to the ridiculous shortage, where this is now the case.
Getting a full PM (meaning a Daytona with a bracelet, not rubber) for almost the same price as SS, is looney tunes |

There is a old saying a fool and there money are soon gone,IMHO anyone paying crazy money for what in the real world is a 19 year old Daytona watch with a ceramic bezel and cosmetically changed dial and clasp, must be sixpence short of a shilling.

Steel Rolex are sold more because they are cheaper, it is obvious, that end up costing more than gold is stupid.

It won’t happen.
As steel goes up in price PM does too. People start going PM since it’s not that far away from prices of SS. New PM YG is MSRP and RG is getting close. |

This should be what happens but then you have the bragging/Insta rights that come more from a rare SS than the higher retail priced Gold that could cause the SS to actually rise past the gold and stay there in our new bizarro world.

x2. There is no WIS reasoning to pay the street prices for a Daytona. A small premium can happen for fashion sake but it’s laughable and kinda sad at this point on where the SS Daytona has gone.

If someone pays more for the same watch in SS than PM, then excuse my French, but that person needs to get his head checked.

Look at the vintage Daytona’s and PNs. They are most sought after in SS I think that’s driving the current SS Daytonas to rise. That and the shortage.

It makes as much sense as a $50 bill being worth more than a $100. But since the value of each are arbitrary, backed by nothing, and agreed upon by consensus, what’s the difference?
The masses: “stainless steel Daytonas are more valuable than gold ones” Also the masses: “ok” |

With most ADs lucky to get one unit per year, the market will remain tight and elusive for a while.

I’d take the old SS Daytona 8 days a week over the Ceramic bezeled one.

My fear is if and when the bubble pops that’ll still mean well over msrp. Anybody else feel that will be the case. Not sure if I ever see these going back to the early premium days of 16-18k Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
