Icon3 New Seiko Sport Has Arrived!

Thanks to Padi I ordered a new Seiko from Timefactors in the UK. Yesterday I received word that the parcel would be ready for pick-up after 1:00 pm today.

I managed to contain myself and wait to open it until I arrived home. I don't have a lot of time to post details right now (I've got some drinking to do ) but thought I would throw up a quick post - more details to follow!

Here is the requisite parcel shot:

I opened it to reveal this neatly packed away inside:

I opened the box to find a very nice black faced Seiko:

After setting the time, day and date, and removing all the protective plastic, I tried to get a decent shot without any glare. This one didn't turn out too badly:

A wrist shot in the sun:

And as a result, a nice lume shot

It certainly glows very well! I'm pretty happy with this one. It's a keeper.

Nice score Al! It's much sleeker than the Monster. I like it A LOT! ;~)

I also think you'd have been unhappy with a monster at 42mm.

Good choice and wear it in excellent health.

Now you have four watches that each are all in-house. :~)

Great watch for the money Al,and Eddie from Timefactors a real nice guy.Can be a bit dry to talk to but thats typical of a Yorkshire man.Have done a lot of business with Eddie over the years, and some of his own designed watches are very good value for money. And some models like the Dreadnought are now selling S/hand for many times the original limited edition bought price. He has a Dreadnought GMT not far from completion, and IMO that one will increase in value like the Dreadnought, and a 100% genuine
reliable guy,and is business has ISO Certification.

Yes John agree IMO without the Seiko 7S26/36 and comparable movements from Miyota (Citizen), Orient, and Swatch ETA, many people would not be able to experience the joy of owning a mechanical watch. And given the reliability and robustness of the Seiko 7S26 or 7S36 movements.IMO I would not be shocked to see this movement run for 15-20 years without a service. Its a well made movement, but not a pretty movement, but with many good things like the Diafix cap jewels, and the nickel power train wheels, that are stronger than the trad brass. And can be easlily tuned to +5 a day, most mass produced Seikos I have found, tent to run +15to+20 out of the box.

Well to be honest, even though I think the BM is too big for me, if Craig's buyer's remorse had kicked in a few days earlier, I probably would have bought his.......

A few more details on this watch:

- It has a display back (although the 7S36 movement is not terribly pretty, but it provides a good comparison for my others that have "finished" movements).

- Very solid bracelet and clasp.

- True dive bezel that only rotates counter-clockwise.

- Very well balanced and comfortable on the wrist.

Overall this is incredible value for the money!
