Jan-Michael Vincent dead at 74

Jan-Michael Vincent -- the '80s heartthrob best known for his role on TV's "Airwolf" -- has died ... TMZ has learned.

Vincent actually died back on Feb. 10 after suffering cardiac arrest while a patient at a North Carolina hospital, according to the death certificate. TMZ was told no autopsy was performed and Vincent was later cremated.

Jan-Michael nearly died in 2012 from an infection that required his right leg to be amputated.

RIP

Given his history I'm surprised he lived this long and I don't mean just 2012 either.

I have a fleeting recollection of his show but never kept up with his career after that.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan-Michael_Vincent

And frankly, after reading that wiki on his personal life it appears he was a pretty miserable fellow, abusing not only himself but those around him and the public in general.

I would ordinarily express heartfelt sentiments for his family but I am guessing his passing was a relief.

In the often "whatever happened to so and so" from Hollywoodland the usual suspect is drug and\or alcohol abuse. People will no longer work with them and producers can no longer trust them to show up ready to work.

Even in the golden era of movies, lots of the big names were very messed up and it was a major gamble to sign them to contracts despite their box office draw.

Yep, they add a little colour to our lives even if they aren't the happiest people in their own. None of us knows how it will all turn out in the end.

Airwolf was one of the best shows ever. I’m saddened by this news.

He also had a part in a weekly serial series called "Danger Island" that aired during The Banana Splits Adventure Hour back in the late 60's ("Uh Oh, Chongo!"). As a 6 year old kid I never missed an episode :)
