Open the case and look inside!

This should be the standard acid test to determine reality when purchasing any Rolex.

Any Rolex can and will be faked on the outside, but the innards cannot be faked.

it's looks very real to me and probably has an aftermarket crystal. Everything else looks authentic

It looks right hands, dial texture, font hands are right length, band, as Dalton stated crystal is incorrect, crown looks suspect you got a side view?. Google the Serial Number, most fake numbers will pop up right away

Might be the lighting, but the red second hand looks a little light to me, but it might be the lighting. Get it checked if you have any doubts. Weigh it & tell us what it is in grams. JJ will know instantly what it should weigh (if it has all the bracelet links).

I hope it all works out for you.

Whos is the dealer?Did he have box and papers? When shopping used.grey buy the dealer first, then the watch.
As others have said go have the back opened up and then you can tell.Only way to know for sure

The replica makers also fake the boxes, papers, and everything else.

I am aware of that but it would also give us more to check out.The papers may have a AD name on them as well,if real of course, and you can check with them to see if they sold it.

I think it looks O.K. with those further photos you have provided.
As Dalton points out the only issue may be that an aftermarket crystal has been used.
Anyway congrats

In doing a side-by-side comparison with your pics and my actual YM, everything looks ligit. Mine's a late 2005 TT, so I don't know if there would or should be any differences between the two. As you said though, the date appears to be a little small. Keep in mind 2 things: The size will appear to change depending on what angle you look at it, and the date on my YM, at least to me, seems slightly smaller than the date on my two DJs. I wonder myself if there is a difference in distance between the actual dials of the YM and DJ and the crystals. That would most certainly make a difference in the "size" of the date.

Update: All good!

I am so relieved, just got back from my watchmaker. Everything is legit. He wasn't able to tell me anything about the size of the date because he had never really paid close attention to the differences (why would he, he is looking right at the movement so he knows if a watch is real or not). He did say that the crystal is original, and everything was in excellent condition, that someone had just recently prepared the watch for sale, so no overhaul or anything needed.

Interesting the last poster said he noticed that is 2005 YM date seemed smaller than his DJ watches, hmmm......

I think I will start a survey to get the final word on this one.

What should be very obvious is, the date window should fill the cyclops perfectly, with almost no spaces around the edges. Forget size ccomparison with a DJ because surely the crystal is aftermarket. Make sure the date fits the cyclops. if the crystal is aftermarket it can be replaced.

trying to update but my posts are getting caught up in the moderators. The watch is legit, I tried to post some pics maybe they will show up soon. The crystal I believe is aftermarket, my jeweler told me the cyclops is glued on with some super glue or something like that. Needless to say, I am relieved that the watch itself is real and I am ordering a replacement original Rolex crystal, will cost me $150, but its better that if the watch was fake@!

I believe all the cyclops's are glued on as far as I know. Perhaps someone could clarify?

Thats correct - actually a simple way to remove the cyclop is to heat it up with a soldering iron to melt the glue....

Glad it worked out Not sure if this was mentioned but Somebody on trf had a gmt-c with a messed up cyclops just the other day. They called rolex and had it resolved.

I wish the SS/PT Yacht-Master had a red date wheel

Oh well, even with Rolex there is always room for improvement.

It will be interesting to see if Rolex has listened to its enthusiasts asking for more 'red' on the dials to see if they respond with anything along those lines at Basel this year.
