I think that looks huge, but I’m glad it works for you. It’s a shame that they made the dd 36 into a women’s watch now. I’d never wear the 40.

Have gone back and forth with this same topic. I have a DD OQ and it appears bigger than your traditional DD 36 due to the more square lugs. I love the traditional look but like the size of the 40.

lugs are pretty much end to end on your wrist so i would say thats on the bigger side for a watch especially a day date...but all that matters is that you like it

For me I love the DD36. I am what I would say an average sized guy. 5'11 200lbs on a bad day. Will post a pic when I can.

I have a small wrist but years of wearing in the range of 40mm have made my wrist preferring said size vs. the 36mm. But I have my eyes set on a 36mm YG Day Date in the future so I’ll update you. Good to hear from you!

Here’s my contribution to the DD40. Initially, I didn’t like the abbreviated Roman indices on the DD but along the way these have grown on me and have made a less cluttered Dial with a 3D effect. Lovely!

I am 6”2 and 250 lbs. 7.25 in wrists. Love my 36 mm. I love the 40 as well but only on white metals. I find the the YG on the President bracelet gives the 36 all the presence it needs. YG on the 40 is just too much for me. There is a classic restrained elegance the 36 has that the 40 does not. Jack Forster writes a great article about the day date in hodinknee. I wish I knew how to post a link but google it, it’s a great read.

At the end of the day it’s personal, get what you love and enjoy.

The only DD I ever considered is 36mm. My wrist size is 7 inches, flat.
Besides that it fits well my wrist it is, also, about the legacy of the model....classic 36mm.

The DD40 wears nearly as big as my Sub. If you want a DD for a more classic/dressy/timeless look and you’re getting yellow gold, I’d argue strongly against a DD40.

If you want it as a sporty/casual alternative to a gold Sub or GMT, then go DD40.

I solved the dilemma by having both. Yellow gold in the classic size, and platinum in the sporty size.

I agree with this! Yellow gold has more presence and holds its own at the classic 36mm size whereas white gold is sportier and works better at 40 - a good reason to get both colors and both sizes!
