Sales associates at luxury brands are a mystery to me. I guess more specifically the people who hire and manage them. How difficult is it to understand that all a customer want are:

1. to be treated like a customer.
2. to have the sales associate be knowledgeable about the product.
3. to understand that the customer likely makes significantly more than they do and there is no need to be judgmental.
4. to understand that the customer is typically not desperate.

It seems like many sales associates at many boutiques fail to accomplish most of the above. Having said that, finding one that does leaves a great impression of the brand. My transaction at the BH VC boutique has been one of those and I would recommend them.

Glad to hear that you have the same experience.

With that said. The best watch SAs I have encountered were from my recent trip to Singapore at multiple locations in Hourglass and Cortina. It is so obvious that I am just a tourist wanting to try on their display models (and they do have a lot) but all of them were more than willing to spend a significant amount of time with me and even referred me to their brand specific boutique's store director/manager as our next stop. It makes you forget they are sales associates but fellow WIS.

Thanks. I feel like the case shape really plays into thickness. Aside from the GMT I own a TT Daytona, and the Daytona seems like it sits lower on the wrist, but then I realized technically it’s taller than the GMT (which is 12mm).

The dual time is spec’d at 12.8mm which should essentially be as tall as my Daytona, but it gives off the impression it’s thicker or wears bigger when I see video/photos of it online.

It does give off that impression, but once you put it on, it doesn't wear that thick as one would think if that makes sense

Agreed, though it does wear thicker than both the Daytona and the GMT. It’s well balanced no doubt, but it’s the largest of the lot.

Question for you guys. I am just getting into VC. I am very interested getting a blue 4500v. I spoke with SA and he said 8 year wait. However if I buy an 82172 (which I do really like) it’ll probably be a 4. Month wait for the 4500v. Does this seem reasonable or is the SA just trying to get me to buy a non overseas watch?

wow 8 years for a blue 4500v? Don't these guys know that you can soon buy them at MSRP on the secondary market? At least your SA is being transparent with you - was the 4 months a gaurantee?

I saw one in Hong Kong that went for HKD200k (that's £21k which is UK retail) and tried to bid but was 5 minutes too slow :(

My experience with the VC boutique in London has not been too pleasant tbh - I registered my interest for a blue 4500v in Jul-21 and they quoted me end of 22/23. I then followed up in Feb-22 and then they said 5 years. I called again recently and then they said they couldn't give me a time. It's just that they have two queues - one for existing VC boutique clients and one for the other and since I put my name down - there have been more "new clients" for that boutique hence my name has been pushed down the list.

Honestly, given where things are and how that particular SA spoke to me, I'd rather buy a watch in HK (no VAT and I think it is priced cheaper as well e.g. a 4500v is HKD178k vs £21k).

You’d pay Tax bringing it back into the UK.

Who was the SA? Was it Bond St or Harrods?

Bond Street - honestly I think its just one guy. The boutique manager is quite nice though. I think the Harrods people are nicer.

I'm based in both HK and the UK. I'm not sure how the import tax works if i'm wearing it as I land. I've seen the ads in Heathrow where they ask you pay VAT on watches you bought overseas? But what if i'm a tourist? Do I pay VAT then. Not really sure how the entire thing works to be honest.

I spoke to eboutique. Kind of the same reply. 8 years for non customers significantly less for previous purchase history

I have an incoming 7900v black dial. The wait is around 6 months with no purchase history. My SA told me the reason he allocates the watch to me is because I showed him genuine interests of watches when I talked to him.

I feel like you just need to talk to different SAs. Find one that is friendly. Then you will have a shot.

P.S. each incoming watch can be allocated to you so 8 years is just a fake number. Apparently I "beat" other people in the line bc of my profile and relationship with the SA.

I can tell you this about VC boutique. It is all about relationships like all other desirable brands. Purchasing another watch will most definitely increase your chance on getting a VCO. Is it guaranteed? Probably not. The store wants to see a purchase history. Unfortunately, there are just too few watches produced to meet the demand. However, I will tell you this - be persistent by stopping by often to express your interest and chat with your SA.

SAs are SAs. They will always try to get you to buy.

So whether 82172 is justified depends on your pocket. Are you planning to buy 2 watches from VC within a year?

Personally, I won't buy a watch for the potential access for another watch. I just hate this watch game.

To DT owners. Can you describe the feel of the crown when unlocking and locking it?

I’ve gone back the last 10 pages of this thread. Here is what I can add:

DT received end of December
1.) traditional box. (Not wallet and travel pouch)
2.) no hang tag
3.) no paper certificate
4.) received alligator strap

I worked myself up to like the calf strap when I got the call so pleasantly surprised to get the alligator. I guess it’s a nice trade for no paper certificate and tag but in reality, the package for all would have been best.

You’re lucky you got the alligator strap. Mine came with calf, however I was able to order the alligator strap as well. Also, it is disappointing that watch no longer comes with hang tag and a booklet (things that us watch nerds love). When I asked my SA, he said VC is going digital.

Thanks so much! I will definitely take some good photos next week when I pick it up. That last photo is actually a screenshot of a video I took while admiring the tourbillon.

Looks amazing!.. and I suppose you picked up the orange strap while there? congrats!!

Also, thanks again for your help with the deployant connector. It saves me a lot of time when alternating various straps, and I have you to thank for that!

Thank you! I did pick up the orange strap to make it official lol.

Glad I was able to help with the pin insert thingy.

I haven’t had the chance to take it out for some photos, hopefully soon. The blue changes so much in different lighting conditions.
