Rolex AD's turning into Greys
Does Rolex even care about a Rolex AD selling to known flippers, and asking grey market price for popular models. I see threads here saying Rolex doesn't allow ADs to sell over MSRP. From experience I know at least 2 ADs who do (Was offered 2 models for grey market price, and was told by a salesperson that they don't care if the buyer was a known flipper. Is there anything we as customers can do? will Rolex listen if we complain?

AD's would loose their status for such selling above MRSP if Rolex have evidence of the same.

Record the incident and report it to rolex. Shameful act tbh. Genuine buyers being put on the back burner with the higher prices on the grey.

Of course they don’t care, they are in the business of selling watches and that’s what grey sellers do including the difficult models. Why would Rolex be bothered by some who feel entitled to but a watch below it,s market value ?

I'm talking about Authorised Rolex Dealers selling way over MSRP, at prices at or a little below Greys market price. I read here that Rolex doesn't allow it.

Would make some sense. Let the ADs list POA on everything and re-stock the cabinets.

An AD selling at MSRP is already getting 35% to 45% profit, or even more in some cases.

100%. I heard rumors, and didn’t believe them, but when I dealt with them first hand it was just unbelievable what’s going on. The strange thing they don’t care if someone contacts Rolex and complains.

Considering the stock they never get, can you blame any business person for maximizing the supply and demand game?
An AD could possibly counter argue that Rolex breached their agreement by not supplying inventory. |

I can’t say which country or region. It’s an important market for Rolex. The AD is very old

Btw, demand seems to be down a bit. Instead of having to buy a Tudor of their choice to get a moderately hot piece, a dealer in Taiwan offered me to buy anything of my choice from his vast sea of Datejusts. In return I would be promised a no date Sub at some unspecified future time According to him the 4 sales associates in the store have to present their case to the manager whenever a hot piece comes in - the manager then decides who it goes to. My wife asked for a discount on an AP order - the SA told me that he could promise me a 10% discount on an AP, no problem. Only catch is that I would never get it over all the full price offers |

Its happening everywhere!!!!! - come on ppl. Who is that naive after all these years where ADs have nothing and every single damn model is available at any gray dealer within 24hrs.
Pretty much all stock are available at gray dealers. One of my best friends who I've known since we were 10 years old is a pretty large gray dealer now in SE Asia. He gets his watches DIRECTLY from ADs and yes all the hot models. He is the one that opened my eyes and told me they work together to make the most money out of customers. He will get all the hot models and sell them for massive markup and split profits with the AD. Simple. Everyone is making money except the end customer who is getting ripped. 2 days maximum he can get any watch to his shop for me to pickup. Doesnt matter what model Rolex he will have it. |

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if more than 50% of ADs consistently sold to grays. Maybe not big time dealers directly, buy the guys who constantly unload to them big dealers.

An AD can definitely sell a Rolex above MSRP. MSRP is not a mandatory price for any product, it is a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price. If they can discount, they can raise stickers too; it works both ways. Last year they did send Singapore Dealers a letter asking them to reduce their exorbitant pricing policies, and they also started putting market area MSRP on the website. All of that still doesn't make it a law.

Rolex AD's turning into Greys
Hahah at some folks.
Why are you guys recommending davidsw then? Why not boycott him? Why give him the sale then? It’s just a watch folks. Be happy. No one cares about your watch. You do realize that you’re crying and bitter over a watch. |

This is a watch forum. To imply it’s stupid that people people really care about these things is silly given the venue. This is a small percentage of real life for most here. While I never ever care for the negativity, I still encourage people to express their feelings regarding watches and specifically Rolex. |
