Older Datejust oyster band issue

Hello,
I'm new to the forum, but not new to Rolexes. I bought my first Rolex stainless date model when I was 23, and have loved the brand ever since. I wore that stainless date for 20 years, no issues at all. I lost it in a hotel room on vacation one year, though. I've had a vintage 18k gold datejust strap model from the mid 60's, gold president model from the late 60's, a new tt submariner 2002 series, and after all those finally got the one I feel Iike I should have. I recently purchased a datejust two tone, 80 model, mint condition, that I wanted a tt oyster band on. I never have liked the tt jubilee band (it's better all steel or all gold, imho). I dealt with a very nice jeweler, Tarrytown jewelers, and he gave me a very good price on this watch. It is immaculate, except there is one issue. The band according to the series number imprinted on the clasp is a '96 model band. I didn't initially notice anything different, but now I realize that Rolex made a small change in the cases of this model so that the case height is about 2mm lower on the 90's models. There is a gap on the endlinks next to the case of about 2mm, I'm guessing. It doesn't really bother me, as the average person wouldn't even think about it when they are looking at it. I'm curious, though, if it would be possible to purchase the correct series end links for that series band and interchange it to this band. If so, where could I find this? I love this datejust, as I've always wanted a blue face two tone model. The submariner I had was black face, and was nice looking, but I found it too big for my wrist. The band, being SEL, was unforgiving when it was on my wrist, as well. I love my datejust now, as it does have some give, and is actually very, very comfortable. I also like the acrylic crystal on this model. It gives it a jewel quality when viewed from the side. Any help on this would be appreciated, but like I said, if worst comes to worse, I'll be happy with it the way it is. Thanks, and I love readying the forums. Very informative and sometimes very entertaining.
