Another new guy with another 116400 GV
Hi, all. This is my first post here. And yesterday marked the day I acquired my first Rolex. I first saw the Milgauss about 4 years ago while in an AD here in town buying my wife a necklace. I fell in love with it, but didn't buy. I went on to buy Tag Heuers since then, but couldn't stop thinking about that Milgauss.
I would go online from time to time just to look at pictures of them. Particularly the GV blue dial. A few months ago I finally decided to go and see one in person again. I discovered that was easier said than done. It took a while to find an AD in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex who even had one that I could see. And that AD actually only received one in inventory that same day. In fact the SA had to get a courier to bring it from the warehouse. I arrived at the store before the watch arrived. The SA and I discussed the watch, and looked at other models, while we waited. He explained that he was surprised they had received the watch because they have been having such a hard time getting any SS models from Rolex. It sounded like a sales tactic to me, but whatever. When the watch arrived he unboxed it and I fell in love all over again. He allowed me to put it on my wrist. I, sadly, made the decision that I needed to wait longer before buying it. So I left without the watch. Since then I bought two other watches. One being the Tag Heuer Carrera H01 skeleton. Although I am absolutely crazy about the H01 it still isn't the Milgauss. I decided I would just do it. And, again, I could not find one at an AD. Not just in the DFW metroplex, but anywhere I checked in Texas and Oklahoma. That's when I realized the SA from earlier must have been telling me the truth. And it was not just a sales tactic. So, I left my name with a few ADs and asked to call me when/if they acquired one. Two days ago I received a call from the same AD that I had originally seen the Milgauss at. She told me they got the watch in just an hour before and asked if she should hold it for me. I told her that I would be in around lunch time yesterday. I went in at 1 pm and walked out, with the watch this time, around 1:45. I think I love it more now than I did the first day I saw it all those years ago! I look forward to reading more about all of your watches! Attached Images |
