The reason is that the polar is more unique but....... In my opinion black is better as a only watch. More versatile indeed.. Polar is more as a part of the collection

I love both i own a POLAR but.. I saw black in the wild and it is stunning..

I own the polar, bought back in 2012. At the time, I was trying on both the white and the black, I must have spent over an hour agonising with then decision. Very happy with the polar, but like most have said, you have zero reason to be sorry about choosing the black dial - it is a stunning looking piece. Well done and congratulations.

New Arrival 216570 Explorer II Sorry, not polar

White looks better in pictures imo but i liked the black dial better in person. I compared both and still preferred the black dial.

When you have the white dial you look at the black dial and say "hmmm, you know, I could see myself in a black dial, too"

There's nothing wrong with the black over Polar or vice-versa. Basically the same awesome watch. I would wear the black one just as happily, especially now that I have the Polar.

Oh, and you should really try out some NATO's. So many cool options for a black dial that you can't do with a white dial and pull off. For instance, the James Bond NATO's, or dark solid color (Black/Blue). A really cheap way to switch it up.

The day after the 2019 Basel Rolex announcement, I picked my 216570. I had a choice between polar or black and I thought I'd pick polar but loved the black dial in person.

Enjoy your new watch!
Exactly the same as me went in for the polar walked out with the black dial and love it 🤘🏻

No apologies. It’s a joy. So comfortable and unassuming. Just right.
