What’s a good second AP?

I currently have one AP. A blue dial steel 15400 i got from an AD at 5% discount off RRP back in 2016.

Thinking of getting a second one. Read somewhere that AP is known for its Minute repeaters. I dont want another RO or even an ROO.

I want something quintessential audemars piguet. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

If you don't mind going vintage 36mm, maybe look at the quantieme perpetual calendars. The skeleton dial version is particularly gorgeous and can be had for around 20k. They are RARE though. Smallerngold dress watches are to me as quintessentially AP as the RO.

Geez I hate to say this but I would never put MR money into and AP that is not a RO or ROO.

These statements seem to contradict each other.

I don't say this in order to disparage the brand, as some do, but I really couldn't imagine buying any AP besides a RO. They pretty much are a one-watch brand - and that's not necessarily a bad thing when that one watch is the RO. It's an all-time icon that, IMO, is more desirable than the other SS giant out there (Nautilus).

Have you looked at AL&S? Incredible value there for the $ and top of the horological heap right now.

What’s your current collection like? I agree with above comments. AP is really all about the RO or ROO. Maybe consider a Patek or ALS?

The high-end 11:59's are really nice if your budget allows for it (the PC, Tourbillon Openworked, and MR Supersonnerie come to mind).

I wish I can be like the OP. Looking for opinion for a second PP, AP, and a VC at the same time.

So your ‘existing’ collection cost you around 45k for 3 watches and now you want 3 more watches that will cost around a million?

This sounds like just the ticket for you, but only if you never plan to sell it.

Also have a look at the more complicated new Codes models, the Perp Cal and Flying Tourb.

Code 11:59 supersonnerie might be what you’re looking for. Not sure how hard those are to get, I can’t imagine they make very many of them.

What was AP before Genta? Am sure it had its own identity. It wouldnt have been considered part of the trinity if it didn’t have. And i guess thats what am looking for.

Yes, got my first ALS (a Grand Lange 1 moonphase in Pt). And i already figured out my next ALS (a zeitwerk in RG).

Thanks.

I guess if the brand no longer has anything to offer. But nothing in the current lineup sings to me. Am also looking into jules audemars but somehow doesnt just jump at me.

Thanks.

I think cost me around USD20K give or take a few for each of the SS.

Am budgeting no more than USD100K each for the next set of three. If successful, these three would comprise about 1/3 of the value of the horological stash (based on acquisition cost).

My current collection is out of whack. A hodgepodge of pieces.
