Can anybody recommend some models for me to look at that are, sporty, fit a small wrist, attainable, and NOT a sub?
Recommend SS Datejust 36, white stick dial, fluted bezel with jubilee bracelet -- a Rolex classic and stunning watch.

I have a 34mm Air King, 36mm Turn-o-Graph and the 37mm Yacht-master. I only have a 6.5 inch wrist so I like the smaller faces. The 37 mm Yacht-Master would be closer to the size of your Air King.

The explorer II looks amazing but the 40mm size it putting me off, I’ll have to try one on. So far I may be leaning toward the Yachtmaster I 37mm but I’d like a rhodium dial instead of blue.
Don't let the 40mm Exp II size turn you off. Although the YM is 37mm I imagine it will have more wrist presence than the 40mm Exp II, being a lot flashier. I highly doubt your wrist is too small to pull off the Exp II. It's sporty, subtle, and still one of the best bargains out there for a SS sports Rolex. I'd probably go for the white dial, but black looks great too. Goor luck!

I think you would like a Yacht master, maybe an original Explorer, or possibly even an older Air-King in Blue dial form, with the 3, 6, 9 Arabics. Look on Bobs Watches for photo examples.

I also have a 34m air King, and it is great. Consider a 34 m date for similar size, but with date feature.

A 5-digit Exp2 (40mm) with either the white ("polar") or black dial are very nice & very under-the-radar. Definitely a watch worn by someone who appreciates the watch, not just the brand, IMO. The older Exp1 (36mm) is nice, as is the mid-size (37mm) YM1, as others have mentioned. The 36mm Datejust is always available (used) in a plethora of dial colors/metal types combinations. If you do go down the DJ route, you will NOT be disappointed with the jubilee bracelet. It really is lovely & incredibly comfortable. I adore my 1601.

For a sports watch, I suggest either a 36mm or 39mm Explorer I, 39mm Oyster Perpetual or 40mm Explorer II. A lot of choice in terms of dials and colours.

I just recently bought the 37mm YM rhodium dial and I absolutely love it. I'm with you on the small wrists, I tried on a 40mm sub and it just didn't look right unfortunately. The blue dial looks way better in person I think. Has good weight to it and fits very comfortably.

My vote for the YM37, my reasons based on what YOU are looking for:

-Sporty
-Fit a small wrist
-Attainable
-Not a sub

I'll share some pictures, hope they help, 37 mm and my wrist is 6.75". Give the Yacht a chance, you won't regret it. About the bezel it is not a scratch magnet! Look for common pictures and you will see, different story with the polished centre links. Newer model, unique, versatile, case fits great, beautiful combination of colors, useful bezel function.

Keep us informed!
