Balance Replacement 1565 Movement
Hello Folks. I'm scratching my head on this one. I was working on a 1565 movement restoration project, the hairspring was originally damaged, I ordered a new 1530 balance complete and the watch is running over 500s/day slow. The timing screws are all the way in. Assuming everything is clean and properly lubed, would this suggest the balance is too heavy? The original balance had a blue hairspring, the replacement has a steel color hairspring. Thoughts and ideas welcomed. Cheers! -Norm

The 1565 movement doesn't have the same balance as the 1530... It is 7980 for the 1565, 1555, 1560. And the 7855 balance for the 1530 and 1535.

Thanks Bas. Damn it, I should have paid better attention to the technical papers. I was not paying close enough attention, well, I guess now I have a spare. Ughhhhhhh. Cheers! -Norm

I just took another look at the watch. It has a 1560 autowinder. Hmm, I guess I just made a series of amateur mistakes. Live and learn. Cheers! -Norm

Rolex 15xx series is annoying. They have 3-4 different balances between the whole family. What’s worst is a lot of these movements seem to be marked 1570 even though they have dates (so should be 1575?) look at the spec sheet and read each balance description carefully, so you can order the exact one you need.

You are so right, I should have paid better attention. To add insult to injury, I even had all the spec sheets Cheers! -Norm
