Incoming! Some green here.....
I picked up my Harrods edition Black Bay today after around 6 months of wait. I didn’t really chase much as I wasn’t super keen on getting it ASAP (cashflow!!), it’s now come around at a good time. I read some guys got theirs within 2-3 months so I guess it’s possible to get it sooner if you chase.
In my collection I have a 36mm DJ, BLNR (oyster), SS Daytonas in white and also black. I’ve always swayed away from submariners as I find them too common and dare I say, boring (no offence), I knew I wanted a diver and was eyeing up the new omega seamaster 300 or a Tudor black bay of some sort. Being the limited edition and great value at £2,670, I decided to go for the Harrods edition black bay. First impressions, it feels light for the size vs my GMT. People who have a black bay will understand, but the bracelet feels cheaper than a Rolex as it is lighter and perhaps not solid? (can anyone correct me?). The case is thick and it does have some wrist presence which is cool. No date so it’s super simple and clean to look at. I’ll admit the hour hand is weird at first, short and stubby looking with that diamond snowflake shape but doesn’t bother me too much.... yet! The second hand as a cool green tip on the end that makes it different from other black bays. Nice that a nato black strap is included too for the versatility as I heard that Tudor have stopped with with other watches in the black bay line up. Mine is in the 2800s so they’re still continuing for now I guess. No signs of it stopping at least! I had 3 links taken out at Harrods and they kept the coffin box, white tag and de-stickered it for me. I got a small black round shape pouch, although not too sure how much use this is as it looks more for jewellery. I prefer my green Rolex watch pouches. Colour wise, I love the dull green bezel and gold detail on the watch itself. It’s elegant and sophisticated I’d say with a classic feel. The glass is a little domed which is something I’m not used to, I like that effect. Overall it’s not too in your face and doesn’t stand out too much. With the bracelet I thought I wouldn’t like the rivets but they’re alright, quite subtle looking and not noticeable. Will I miss having a date? Probably a bit. I miss the date on the Daytona... but I don’t really mind too much. My phone has the date! And now for a few photos with his siblings..... |

The Tudor is a pretty sweet looking watch with the matt dial and gold indices. I like the riveted style bracelet, gives the watch vintage character.
I know someone who got a Harrods Tudor today (with full plastics as new)......and I think he's pretty dang happy too!!! His watch number is 247.

Nice add to the collection. The Tudor is a great knock-around, and keeps impeccable time.
