I see. Sounds like an interesting option, although I question how marketable. No doubt some watch hounds would be on it like white on rice, though.

The idea that people have ingrained on here that simply because Rolex discontinues a model it automatically goes up in value is laughable. This wasn’t a popular watch. It is a PM piece which already commands a huge discount when new and you lose an additional 10-12% from that discount when you walk out the door of the AD. This isn’t 1975 when Rolex wasn’t making watches in huge numbers to begin with like the Daytona.

If so, the BLRO discontinuation would be paving the way for a new WG model this year. If Rolex follows the same pattern as they did with the current six digit models, a new SS Sub Date won't show up for five years after the debut of the first new GMT. That would be 2023, if a new GMT drops this year. That would also make it a potential 70th anniversary edition. Or it could be Rolex is keeping the current sports designs for the foreseeable future, and just drops in new movements into the sports models and gives them M references. The BLRO could just be gone because it doesn't sell well, and all this redesign talk could end up being a bunch of nothing. As you say...who knows? We'll find out in a little under six weeks. |

Why not any Titanium models?
Would raise the price from the SS but not as much as a WG for example wouldn't it? |

Rolex being Rolex, they would insist on making and tooling the titanium themselves, which means they'd need to install the facilities to do it. Given the limited appeal of the metal, I would guess they don't feel it is worth the investment.

Wow so this is real? Maybe I should get a ss Pepsi now, I’m sure prices will go up even higher.
Also, if it is truly discontinued, we may finally see the coke return after all...in wg.

Perhaps someone could provide the names of some of these ADs who claim the watch has been discontinued. And its still on the web site. |

In Europe anyone has seen or talked with any AD that has received any input?
So far We've only seen US AD's claiming that it was discontinued... isn't it a bit odd? |

My wife wanted the 35mm yacht master. It was confirmed here and shortly after maybe a month it disappeared from the website. I got it the day it disappeared from the website for her because i didn't know if the chatter here was true or not. It was in september i know for sure. So it didn't coincide with Basel or anything. Fairly random |

Good question. I forgot about the Pelagos. I tried to find information on who produces the titanium, but came up short. I will defer to someone who knows. Until then, though, I'll note a few things: Tudor is made by Rolex, but it isn't Rolex, and isn't held to the same standard as Rolex. Hence, up until just the last few years, Tudor models still featured ETA movements. The Pelagos debuted with an ETA movement, so it isn't unreasonable to think the titanium would have been outsourced as well. I have to think that if Rolex had invested in the facilities to produce titanium, we'd see it in at least some Rolex models, not just a single Tudor offering. Also, the lack of information might itself be telling: Brands love to advertise when they do things on their own; they might not be so quick to point out when they don't. So, absent better information, I'm going to guess they outsource it.
For that matter, is Rolex making 316L steel for Tudor? Can they do that with equipment made for 904L? |

Well I did post a perfectly good explanation of why it would still be on the website. The watch has been discontinued . It has been confirmed by no fewer than 12 AD's. The confirmation has come directly from Rolex USA to the 3 AD's I have a relationship with and these same AD's told me of the SD4K being discontinued and the Cameron being introduced and...and...and they have not been wrong yet. Can't speak for the other AD's but hey, things sure do add up here don't they? Why people still can't believe this is beyond me but it has turned pretty comical at this point.

My friend who manages a Rolex boutique told me it was discontinued today. Bring on the steel Pepsi (coke will probably come out first though )!

It just doesn't make sense to me that they would discontinue the pepsi even if they where to release a coke model.
They would be better off discontinuing a yellow gold version instead. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |
