Yes the 41mm Double Balanced Openworked is awesome too. When I wear it, people notice it straight away. Probably the most commented on watch that I have.

This is also equally impressive.

IMHO the best out of the new novelties.

I thought the khaki was great. Looked black in dark lighting so it doesn’t scream green

I've been on the list for a 15450 in silver for three years - which would be my first AP. Three years of having to wait for that piece alone is stupendous, but it is what it is. Did not ask for a blue dial or a 15202 then, because I fully realized that these are allocated to established clients only.

What really got me was the fact, that he straight up told me it was practically impossible for me to get a 15450 this year, despite the fact they seem to remain in the catalog for at least some time. Don't believe that to be the case, but at least that's what he told me. He wasn't really familiar with the new models yet, so I'm not holding my breath anyway. Cool, so there goes my first AP. I don't like the new dial layout of the 15550 at all and thus won't purchase one if - and that's a big if - I'm ever allocated one.

Honestly, this is ridiculous. I've been collecting watches for more than 15 years and there is absolutely no fun in it anymore. I'm currently in my late 30s, so basically I've been spending my hard-earned cash for watches from the time on I had any disposable income to speak of. But that does not matter and why should it, since there are not any chronological waitlists to speak of, only obscure wishlists.

Without me asking, the manager even tried to convince me, that there were special allocation meetings in Le Brassus for 15202s and now 16202s, where each case is discussed in detail. Who on earth would believe that story? Anyone with a big enough checkbook is able to buy anything they want from AP as long as they also take some of the stuff with them they produce alongside the watch that kept them afloat for the better part of 50 years. I mean I understand that AP wants to sell more than one range of models. But for god's sake, they then need to build stuff that is actually worth going for or obtainable.

Why on earth do I need to purchase a women's watch my wife does not like? Why on earth am I forced to buy a Code I don't like to be able to purchase one of the few models I'm interested in from that company? Since I do not want any of these watches, I would then be forced to sell them to some grey market dealer at discount - because let's face it - NO ONE really wants these watches: they are only purchased to get a RO or ROO. The company does not even build dress watches atm, so I can't even go the Patek route and purchase an heirloom piece dress watch in order to build a purchasing history.

Why can't they just build models based on what clients are asking for? And why on earth is everyone going along with this? Why doesn't everyone realize this is a giant bubble, that is bound to burst as soon as central banks really start raising their interest rates? Who is going to buy these Codes stashed away in some secondary market dealer's basement once crypto goes fully bust and the free loan supply dries up?

These ridiculous resale values just result from the fact, that companies like AP are unwilling to produce what their clients actually want. More and more people are flocking to AP asking for watches they do not really care for, just to be able to purchase a watch they feel like will be rising in value. Which - surprise, surprise - they won't indefinitely. This seems to me like a poor remake of the housing market of 2007 and for AP (and grey market dealers alike) this is not a sustainable business model.

Am I the only one who's absolutely fed up with this situation? It's not like I need to purchase a Cayenne first in order to be allocated a 911. It's not like I need to purchase a Panamera, before I'm able to order a Taycan. I do not want to buy an RS straight out of the showroom - it's a basic 15450, not a 15467.

It's not like AP and all the others would be making any less money if they just gave us what we are asking for. Secondary market prices would plummet of course, but it is not like they would be selling any less watches themselves. What a waste of time.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. The RO is my favorite sports watch and i was lucky to obtain couple of references prior to the madness however I have not been very lucky in the past year. As much as I love the RO line i cant find anything else the brand makes that I want. It is extremely strange that a company like AP does not make a dress watch. The offshore line is too big and thick for my 6.5 wrist and the code while I don't hate it I don't think buying a 30k watch I am not in love with is fair. At that price i was able to get a Lange 1 a watch I have always coveted. I love many of the new releases and hope to snag one this year but I am not holding my breath since I am not able or willing to buy from the other lines. On the other hand I think Patek and VC's sport models aren't as nice as the RO but their dress line ups are so diverse I could find multiple models I would be willing to bundle to obtain a nautilus or overseas.

I agree with this. Just watched a TMosso video he posted with the Forsted brown millenium watch… it’s just ridiculous. Yes there might be some kind of craftsmanship behind this, but designers have long left this company IMO. Nobody would be talking about AP without RO. ROO look like parodies and to me, are the equivalent of BMW adding giant front grills to their cars because they have no idea how to stand on the shoulders of the genius who came before them.

Patek, for all the dislike I have for them, at least are able to create a few pieces that are wearables without being complete jokes. AP on the other hand, is truly a mono product brand and has no idea how to dig themselves out of the hole.

Broskis I got you… we just need AP to bring these bad boys back to their lineup:

Much better looking and sexier than a code imo… I wouldn’t mind bundling up some of these with sport models.

It's not a bubble yet. People are paying all of these with cash. It can't be compared to housing which was all paid with debt.

Supply is too low compared to demand. Even if interest rates go up it's not going to change anything. If anything people may flock more to watches because stocks will go down. And if stocks go down people go to other things as a hedge (crypto, gold, watches, etc...). As long as supply stays super low, this continues.

People need to stop giving Econ advice on this forum when they aren't qualified.

But I agree it's dumb as fu*k to buy things you don't like to get what you want. Luckily my SA hasn't told me I have to buy a code to get the watch I'm going after. But it's still super aggravating.

I guess that's why the boutiques are full of unsold ROOs and CODEs, collecting dust while the SAs try to peddle them with huge discounts...

No company wants to be known just for their one “super hot” watch.
Patek=Nautilus
Rolex=Daytona
AP=RO

So if all sports models sell off so quick. It only makes sense for those companies to make customers bundle up or pair with other watches. It’s messed up, but at the end of the day, when François-Henry Bennahmias is asked by the press- he wants to be able to say exactly what he said during the last event- “THE CODES ARE SELLING BETTER THAN EXPECTED” lol

Rolex's hottest watch right now are the OPs, the GMTs, the Daytonas, now even the Day dates...

At PP, even the white gold Aquanaut is selling at 3x the RRP on the grey market.

AP is not shying away from the fact that their RO is popular, and makes some 100 different variants of them, with everyone of them selling for a premium on the grey market. So be it if it's just 1 design.

The biggest difference by far is that beautiful modern 7121 movement and the 50th anniversary rotor.

I am very happy with my 15202PT as it had a production run of only 9 months and was the last available model of the 15202 line and the last watch in the industry to feature the legendary 2121 movement (technically the “only watch charity auction” was the last one but only one unique piece, so it doesn’t really count…nerd alert bis!).
Thank you so much for this. I was excited for the 16202PT, but remembered the earlier version and wasn’t sure whether I’d taken crazy pills because I didn’t see any references to your model, which I adore. If you have the time, I’d be grateful for a couple pictures!

New AP’S prediction 2022 thread

Is it just me that thinks the “50” on the rotor looks super dumb?

Agree. Irrespective of future value, I may consider sitting out a year. Although it may be reality anyway!

Agree. I much prefer the regular rotor in rose gold even if the watch is in SS.
The rhodium plate finish of the RG to match the steel case is not something I particularly like.

I absolutely love the fact that they are doing an anniversary rotor, it is very special!

However I completely agree that the rotor tone on tone color for the ST models is a bit disappointing, personally I would have preferred a full RG (no rhodium plate finish) like in the new PM models.

Agree, the 50th anniversary versions will be very special and of significant importance.
I would love to add one of these, but despite buying a Code last year (which I bought because I really like it), I am not being allocated one.
Spoke to two boutiques where I keep in touch with and both for various reasons are not able to allocate one.
Very disappointing and frustrating.

Good luck! Try bringing a bottle of Champagne and build a relationship with one specific SA, take time to chat and pop in randomly just to say hi and discuss life in general the most genuinely possible.

It sucks that most of us probably won’t be allocated with an anniversary piece this year. But just remember, most references will carry on to next year aswell. So after all the VVIP’s get allocated this year, we will have a better shot next year. Patience and faith my friend

No AP boutique/house in my country of residence.
Both boutiques are abroad and I need to get on a plane to visit them. So it has been mostly via phone. One of the boutiques I visited twice and they got me the Code.
Also they both told me that allocations have already been done and approved by Corporate.
And one of them mentioned that the founding family wants to offer these pieces to relatively newer clientele.

Do you hear similar stories in your part of the world regarding the allocations?

I know. I tell myself that I like better the RG rotor and that there will be also a 60th anniversary.
But I still want to have that piece of history on my wrist.
