Icon7 6239 model question

Hi everyone,

I'm selling my grandfather's watch, and I was wondering if anyone know the exact model, or approximate value of this Daytona. The serial number indicates it's from 1966.

It was serviced by Rolex several years back. Thank you in advance.

With Paul Newman's actual exotic dial being auctioned this week, I may never afford one myself. My guess is the prices will skyrocket after this record sale in a few days. These are gorgeous.

Yes, perhaps. But even without that auction, prices for all Daytonas were/are going crazy. They seem to be getting more and more rare, especially the good examples.

You are right. I saw this Rolex Daytona 6238 6239 for parts on the bay. Heavily damaged and selling for the parts, needing a new dial and likely movement parts as well. I thought it would sell for several thousand bucks at most.

But instead, it sold for what a well functioning Daytona went for just a few years ago. I am stunned.

If I inherited such a fine watch as a Rolex from my grandfather, I would never sell it. If that Rolex was a 6239...I can only imagine what that would be like. Unless you are in dire straits, that should be cherished and enjoyed as a wonderful family heirloom. WOW !!!

My favorite Daytona, the 6239. Maybe one day, I'll get an exotic dial version too ... like when I win the lottery
