At this point in collecting, I would never buy a black dial Submariner Date because everyone.who has made more than a nickel in their lifetime has one & I wouldn't buy a two tone blue Submariner mostly because I'd probably have to punch someone in the eye if I heard someone audibly call my watch Bluesy.

I would however think you have no taste but that is by the by.

I agree totally as an owner of a Sub 116613LB & Daytona 116503 the T/T is taking a bashing but so is every other Rolex Model & I think it is quite interesting to hear the views of other people & quite fun I am not offended in the least & I wouldn't imagine anyone else is it's all just a bit of fun

Exactly there is a fine line between insulting the watch and the owner. I don't care if people say the Explorer is crap but if they said "Explorers are only worn by....." that is insulting the wearers.

YM, YM II, Daytona, anything with a supercase, anything made from PM, or two-tone.

Doesn't leave much, but I wouldn't mind a steel DateJust.

Probably the Airking. I would rock the Yachtmaster II in a heartbeat though.

So, if we called it something else you would wear it?

Submariner, especially the bluesy.

I respect it, but I just can't jive with the style. I actually prefer the style of the Tudor Black Bay more.

EDIT: Add the Yachtmaster II to this list. I enjoy the original, but the YMII is just too much.

Probably never:
jubilee bracelet
under 40mm
Milguass, Explorer, Air King, Datejust, or Cellini

My favorites:
YG DD40
YG/TT Sub blue dial
Daytona with panda dial

Cool thread here. I agree with previous comments that this thread really shows how Rolex can appeal to many with different tastes and there is no problem bashing a watch model without personally insulting the wearer.

Although I owned one in the past (remember the 80's), I would not buy a two toned.

Also, I have never liked diamonds on Men's watches, just a personal preference (I know many like them).

And the YM II, I just don't like the name on the bezel, just a step too far IMO.

As for likes, I love chronographs, especially Daytonas.

I love meteorite and think Rolex does those very well.

And I love precious metals, especially WG and platinum. I like the weight and subtlety, and the fact that most people will think they are plain SS. It is like knowing a secret.

Definitely, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's great that all of us don't like the same, one watch and style. Life would be boring if we did.
Me too, I do own a gold YM2 116688 w/ gold hands and it is a beauty. I do think the two tones and the white gold ones are ugly. Me and my wife have a 35mm & 40mm matching pair platinum with platinum dial, this is a very nice set. I also like that the YM2 can't be mistaken for a Seiko or Genève that comes close to looking like a Rolex.

What Rolex model you would never ever buy?

What wouldn't I buy? Anything two-tone. All SS - great. All YG - fine. All WG - fine. I just don't like mixing and matching with my metals.
