Faith, I think that slogan should be - EVERYBODY WHO KNOWS, DOESN'T GO TO MELROSE!
The last time I went there was 20 years ago to have a "it just isn't working out" conversation. They pack you in like sardines at tables with a 3" high divider across the center of the table so strangers can sit 2' across from you, hearing every little whisper you say! An older woman sitting across from me was giving me the look of complete disgust while I was having his conversation. I swore I'd never go back there! |

Hi Guys,
Would anyone mind if I brought one a close friend to the GTG? Last year I was the only female and it appears this GTG is heading in the same direction. I thought it might be nice to not be the only female in the bunch. Faith

I'm sure nobody minds you bringing a guest to the GTG. Of course, providing your guest can pass the secret initiation.

You should read page 435, section 7, paragraph 14 of the manual concerning showing up to a GTG without a Rolex....You can't imagine what I went through last year!!! Luckily I wont have that problem this year...

So Russell, I'm I to take it you will not be wearing "Speedy" this time?
By the way, you did read in the TRF manual, "returning people wearing a differant watch from the previous GTG are required to pick up the GTG tab". |

If we opt for a diner, my vote is for the South Street Diner. My friend and I ran the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Run a few years ago then enjoyed a wonderful breakfast there. It's practically a Philly institution.

I'm ok with South Street, but I used to have an office at Head House Square around the corner and I used to eat breakfast they 1 or 2 times a week and I don't remember it being that big, so I made a phone call. They don't have any big tables or seperate rooms, but I was told that if a call was made the day before, they could probaly put us in a group gathering of seperate tables. Something to think about.
BTW Faith, that Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Run is a pretty good thing. I just found out somebody who was rather dear to me at one time died of breast cancer back in Feb., so keep on running "Sh....as"! |

I'll throw 1 more out there. The Rose Tree Inn, outside of Media, a couple blocks from my office is a top notch restaurant with the best food in suburban Philly.
http://www.rosetreeinn.net/ Draw backs: 1. a little pricey, and I know some people last year didn't want anything too pricey. 2. kind of far from any thing "Rolex" - closest KOP, 30 minutes away. But , I used to eat lunch there once a week and dinner 1 or 2 times a month there and I know for a fact, Patty and Robert can make cardboard taste good. Robert is an Austrian chef. |

While we're at it, why not opt for the hot dog vendor who stands next to the heating grate at 3rd & Arch? (It's next to the house of ill repute. "Ho ho ho!")

I spent the millenium driving from Canada to California with an old Girlfriend. We spent the millenmium night in a campground just outside of a place called whiskeytown, then spent the next few days driving back up 101 through Oregon, what a trip! My favorite though is Manhattan! I would love to live their one day. Spent many happy times in New York, love the place. In fact I think you have one of the most diverse countries in the world, you've got everything |

I trust your judgment and checked out their menu. The menu looks great and not too pricey at all. I would rather eat there than at a diner. I'm wondering though how other's feel? Faith

I think there's a BenAri Jeweler's (Rolex AD) a mile down from Rose Tree Inn, I've never been to either place so I'm cool to explore them both! -N. |

Or somewhere around Shuler's Jewelers (Rolex AD) in East Norriton. I know the owner there and it's not far from the Plymouth Meeting exit of the Blue Route. There is a diner close by that has a semi-private room that should be able to accomodate a large party.

I'm with you, Nelson. We only have a GTG once a year, so it would be nice to sit down in a quieter and classier environment than a diner IMO. I'm liking Jim's choice of restaurants and Nelson's AD. Thoughts?

The more I think about the restaurants I used to frequent in my Philly days, the more that come to mind. This one, "Harrys", on Naamans Creek Rd. in the Brandywine area of Delaware is most likely the best restaurant in the tri-state area. I have eaten there literally hundreds of times and have never had a bad time or a bad eating experience. While a bit far, it is also close to tax free shopping ADs if anyone is looking to buy. If anyone is familiar with the Brandywine Country Club, this is right around the corner.
http://www.harrys-savoy.com/ I personnally think both the Rose Tree Inn and Harrys are the best suburban restaurants in the Philly area. Neither one is a dissapointment. Lets get cooking with gas Gals and Guys! |

Hi Faith and Everyone,
I'm looking forward to attending the GTG. I hope you don't mind that I'm an Omega girl and hope to be a Rolex girl soon. See you on the 10th! Barb (Sophia3333) |

Yo Barb,
The last person to wear an Omega to a Rolex GTG we pummelled unmercifully with a shovel. You can wear whatever you like, but we accept no liability for the consequences. Faith
