I picked up a new sub a couple of years ago, got home, was showing it to a friend, when she blurted out " why would you ever buy a $1,000 watch?". I just turned my head and said to myself, "Just walk away".

Most of my friends are not into watches, with a couple of exceptions. One Lodge brother has a couple of Rolexes, and a Pam. A guy at work has a DSSD, a regular SD, A YM, and his latest an Oris Prodiver. Now my neighbor, he's a different story. I've seen him wearing a Blanchpain FF, several Breitlings, a Frank Mueller, and who knows what else he keeps away from my prying eyes!!!

My cousin has a top of the line Movado. An old family friend has a Rolex Explorer 2 white face, another has a Patek sculpture. That's about it.
Oh one of my friends actually have a nice Oris watch. |

Most of my non TRF friends wear a plastic Casio or Timex running watch.
My friend Avi has the only "luxury" watch...a tutone Movado from Cosco he bought for $300. Once a year he returns it because because the gold tone has faded or the crystal is cracked. They replace it at no charge with a new one. |

With my friends it either or. Most of them don't wear nice watches - but there are a few that are as crazy as I am and they typically have more than one. One of my colleagues just got a WG Daytona on a leather strap for his birthday from his wife. He married the right woman!

There's a couple of Subs and a Datejust, a pair of Panereis, a pair of Omegas, one guy sports a Cartier and a few Tag Heuers for good measure. The rest are probably G shocks or similar type digitals.

My friends really aren't watch people. My wife wears a Citizen MOP dial watch I got her a couple of years ago (soon to be a mid-sized DJ ), and coworkers wear stuff like Casio, Timex, Fossil, Seiko, etc.

Most of my good friends wear nothing special. The few that I have that are into watches mostly wear Rolex or some other higher end timepiece. My girlfriend wears an older Air King 5500 for work and a Mid-size SS/Plat YM when not at work.

My husband (my best friend) has a TT black Sub.
Several female friends have a ladies' DJ, some with classic fluted bezel/jubilee bracelet, others with a smooth bezel and oyster-style bracelet. Some older male colleagues have the all-gold DJ or President (DD). One has a Cellini on a leather strap. Others have vintage gold Omegas. Others wear a jogging watch. |
