Just for you Dan

'cause it's your "fault"...ha ha

This is me riding the prologue TT of a stage race in 1998, I won the prologue and held on over the whole weekend for the overall win......this was just before my last outing to the Irish FBD Milk RAS....oh and the black dial DJ is on my right wrist again in this shot!!!

My apologies, I forgot to comment on the "Incoming" watch to which I think looks great, actually prefer the overall look to Daytona ESP the white dial and set-up with date.

Great choice

Love the racing pics, something I've never done as I didn't get heavy into riding until I was 40.
But I do love to challenge myself, whether it's finding that perfect Tudor chrono or setting a goal on the pedals. Here's a pic from 4 years ago with the target in my crosshairs.

And I'm proud to take the blame, Bill.

Great thread from a Tudor owner and former bike racer.
I think I rode a Cannondale the last time I raced outside Flagstaff AZ about 25 years ago.

Wow you actaully sported a Rolex while racing at that level? You don't see any Rolex in the cat/pro races today, too many Heart Rate watches on wrists

It's never too late Dan

I spend the first part of the year bike racing in Asia and then switch to Triathlons for the remainder. If anyone thought that WIS are certified geeks wait till they meet a Tri geek

Ah, can we stop with this now guys - you're driving me crazy!

When I lived in Milano, I often went to Como to take on the hills around that area. Also been to the TdF a couple of times, and have done the usual famous climbs (really fun stuff!). But I must say that the best riding I've ever experienced is outside Firenze in Toscana. The beauty there is just breathtaking!

Dan; That picture almost reminds me of Mont Vantou.

Cheers,
Joe

Now l'Alpe d'Huez would be a climb! But your son should have made more of a contribution than just dead weight.

This was a 10,000 ft. climb up Mt Haleakala in Maui. I'd ridden the West Maui Mountains in previous visits and decided the worlds largest dormant volcano and longest paved assent had to be tried. Total of 38 miles from sea level to the top w/ a 9% average gradient. Took 5 hours and 4 minutes to climb, another hour to descend.

Fantastic mate!!!!!.....just as fast coming off l'Alpe d'Huez.......possibly a bit more scary with a trailor and an 8 year old behind you with no brakes on his part of the set-up!!!!

Joe, the comerarderie within cycling is just immense.......you guys contributing to this thread know what I mean.......you do not have to compete against anything but nature, gravity, wind, rain, snow etc to "know".......or to feel the wind on your back, the sun on your face and be clipping along at 35mph with little or no effort......the racing exposure takes it to another height....brother's in arms......what a great thread even if I say so myself!!!!!....thanks to one and all for contributing and for the congrats!!!!

Since I don't compete in racing please allow me to brag about another goal I wanted to tackle before I turned 50. I know this is a daily occurrence to you racers but it was a rare treat for me.

Hey Dan, you'd be surprised, the magic 50 doesn't come up very often.....I have seen it but very rarely.......anything beyond 45 is very very fast on a bike.....50 is warp speed..

I couldn't agree with you more Bill! 100% true (a bit of goosebumps here for me actually, because a lot of memories coming back from reading this and enjoying this thread) Fantastic stuff indeed.

AH, great stuff Dan!
I was riding beside Jan Ullrich on one of the descents back in 2003. Well, all I can say is that it was fast... very very fast (but of course for him it was like a walk in the park)

Cheers,
Joe

Yeah, even I have visited 40 and a bit over many times but 50 was always out of my reach. So a friend and I set up a semi closed route with him ahead to stop traffic if necessary in a particularly hilly section of town. My friend said he could hear me pass by but couldn't see me. Scary thought with only a couple of inches of rubber between you and disaster.

Jan Ullrich was always one of my favorites. What a thrill to ride with an icon.

I gonna love the electric bike special lane in shanghai! I wish we have that here. But then again the traffic is a little heavy over there.

Well - all I can say is this; that one doesn't work very well, to put it mildly... (But OK, to its defense, it would be even crazier if it wasn't there.)

And a little heavy. You think? It's madness really, and unfortunately it's just getting worse and worse

Cheers,
Joe
