It is really a beautiful watch. I was surprised by how beautiful it was. I love that I'll be able to dress it up and down. I love that it's a bit chunky but still very elegant. I love the hidden catch on the jubilee bracelet. I love the mother of pearl, and the fact that my mother of pearl will be unique. I am a fan of things that have been made by nature.

*Sighs* I cannot wait to get my Rolex! :D

You guys all seem like you enjoy your stay a huge amount. Certainly I wasn't expecting this level of response. I am only a member of one other forum (about diamonds) and certainly although that's an active forum, this is just like a tsunami of people. It's really rather lovely! Talk about making someone feel good about a purchase... ah, ah, I see what you are all doing now! ;) Hold on, I haven't even received this one yet, and this seems like a clever ploy to persuade me to buy more!

;)

Thank you very much, it's lovely to be here.

(I hope I am not going to get into trouble for responding to everyone individually???)

I will steal my mum's camera when I get my Rolex and there will certainly be pictures. My camera skills will probably need some work, but hey, it's Rolex. It'll look beautiful. :D

Hi Lydia, welcome aboard!

Remember, when your watch arrives we need pix!

Btw, sounds like your Mum's Tudor is overdue for a servicing.

Hi! :D

Even before I knew anything about watches, I knew that my mum's Tudor needed a service, hehe. Her attitude is more along the lines of 'if it isn't broke, don't fix it', and to some extent I can understand why she thinks that. The watch has run for at least 35 years. But I have mentioned to her that it certainly doesn't keep time very well and probably without the service it's going through a bit more strain than is really fair on it. And then one day it'll stop and will be significantly more expensive to fix or perhaps even impossible to fix, which wouldn't be the case if a bit of love was shown to it. Even on the simplest level I can't imagine that any of the oils it should have are still there?

So yes, it's a very special watch, and maybe I'll have to buy her the service as a present.

I very much agree with the quote you have in your signature. And afterall, you get what you pay for.

As soon as I have both the watch and a camera on me I will be taking those pictures and then have the horrible task of trying to keep the amount I show to the minimum.

:D It's going to be such a nice thing to stress over! :D

You're not allowed to say that. :P

You know what, I don't know. I don't know how I would own more than one luxury watch - I would want to wear both at the same time. I get attached to items and would struggle to move on from one watch, I think. I like the notion of one watch for years and years. I'll see, though, because I know that things change.

It's the same reason that I struggle with the idea of upgrading the dials slowly to the diamond one. I like to think that I'm quite good at explaining myself, but really that's something I struggle to put into words. You know, my mum, she has these earrings, one pair. She has lots of other earrings, but I have never ever known her to wear any other earrings than these. I don't bother to buy her earrings because she'll never wear them; she has HER earrings. And maybe it's a bit like that. Sometimes I find it frustrating, mostly when gift times are coming up, but sometimes I like that she makes such a statement with her jewellery, and in some ways it's a part of her.

Hmm.

*Grins*

The anticipation is delicious though. It's like Christmas day - I had a stocking of presents to whet my appetite, but then I had to wait. Certainly it's not all over once you open the presents, but there is a certain feeling that comes with the anticipation that is just magical, and I am treasuring it even as much as I want my Rolex right now!

I am so going to enjoy the watch. I want to wheeze with the excitement of it. :D

Thank you! Yes, a fabulous ending. Or beginning. Eep!

Also, doggies! I love doggies. :D

I have a West Highland White Terrier named Eric. His fifteenth birthday was on the 18th of November. I've had him since I was eleven and he is just amazing. I felt compelled to find a little smiley of a heart but they don't have one! Awww.

Elements of your story are very similar to mine.

I wasn't sure that I'd actually buy a Rolex, until I tried on the Explorer and it was love at first site.

I put mine on layaway, but came back later in the day with cash to pay it off and take it home.

Sometimes you just know when something is right.

That's really interesting. I've read through my post a couple of times since I posted it, and I was trying to figure out why exactly I wasn't keen on Rolexes before apart from for the reasons I already mentioned.

But yes, my switch from 'probably not' to 'yes, and I have to have it right now' was an immediate thing too. You did one better than me and actually bought it pretty much right then. That made me smile. We don't really have 'layaway' here - I believe it means that they put it aside for you and once you've paid off the amount they'll take it out the box they kept it in and give it to you?

I'll bet you didn't regret it one little bit. I was more nervous before I bought mine - as soon as it was a done deal, all I felt was elation. :D
