When referring to the LV, what does Mark 1 mean? I see that mentioned here and not real sure what that means. Sorry for my ignorance.

I am thinking about buying a Y series LV with flat 4. Are the Y series really pulling a premium on price? What should I expect to pay if I wanted to pick one up with box and papers that has been worn, but not in bad shape?

I have a late F series with no flat 4. Love the watch. First Rolex I ever purchased.

After a couple of strong ones I came up with the bright idea of testing the scratch proof saphire....well...as shown.....I managed to prove Rolex wrong in that sentence

The lesson cost med $ 275 to replace the crystal and the insert (included a PT and new gaskets too)

But it came back brand new...sort of...

Davvan, those must have been VERY strong ones. Rolex advertises scratch-resistant rather than scratch-proof. LOL... Here's an old sample quote:

It's really odd because the seller has 100% positive feedback. I guess he unwittingly aquired the frankenwatch and is selling it not knowing there is a problem with the watch (?).

I hope this isn't a really RARE varient and by me posting the link, i just lost out on a great find.

I would stay away from this one. Something doesn't add up. Might be a swap, might be something else.. If you look at the feedback you see that the seller has not sold any watches before. The watch knowledge or Rolex knowledge of the seller might be insufficient.

The watch has a circular "o" in Rolex, which would indicate a mark 5 or later with a pointed four, as far as I know.

Not a mark 1 for sure. Bezel may have been replaced.

The four on the inside of the number at the top is flat, not just the top of the four. Some are pointed on the inside of the four and the earlier modes have it flat on the inside. Does that make sense?

Personally I think the LV with the rolex rehaut engraving to me is more collectable, correct me if I am wrong but didnt they only make that for like 2 years or so? vs the older ones the made for like 4 or so.

Since you asked to be corrected if wrong--you are hereby corrected. The one LV selling for a big premium is the Y series and early F-both from 2003 with distinct markings. That is it--that is what the market says--and the market has the final say.

So if someone sends in their 'flat four' for a service and is replaced with a 'pointed four' lololol and I still have my 2 LV's with rehaut I win.
