I've not seen one (either colour) in the states yet, but back in Korea white dials are becoming more apparent in ADs.

(Black seems to be the dominant preference in Seoul, and I assume in most of Asia)

I have not seen one in display case in Chicago, NJ, NY or Vegas. I typically visit an AD once every 2-3 weeks. Last time I was in Wynn the sales guy told me the wait list is 4-6 month long.

Wow, I am suprised at this result, the vote is very close right now, maybe due to the fact that some people abroad have voted (You Bastids!!!!) I guess we can make this a world-wide vote, so go ahead and cast your ballots. The reason I wanted to make it US is because I know they are becoming much easier to get in Canada, and south of the boarder (Latin America) but I have NEVER, (and I travel quite a bit) walked in to a US AD and seen one sitting in the case. There are TT and AGs, but not SS. Again, I am not claiming they were ever worth the "Hype" and if you find it ridiculous they captured more then MSRP I can't argue, but to me, saying you will see one sitting next to every GMT or DJ II or any other model in this country is just plain wrong. As GMT Master pointed out, maybe it is a ploy by Rolex, and maybe the ADs do have as many but to keep up prices hoard them in the back(?). Could very well be, I have no idea why, but they are not out in the cases in numbers like other models.

I agree it's not very common to see a SS Daytona in the case at a US AD, but I have seen it within the last few months.

Not like a Sub for example, which you can pretty much count on seeing one or more of at any US AD.

Agreed - only will only be available to you if you knew the AD well or have been a returning customer with previous big spending.
I doubt the ADs will sell you one if you just a random someone walking in off the street. At least not in London anyway. True?

In the last couple years, I have not been into an AD in AL, LA, MS, or FL that did not have at least one in the showcase.

I think what is missing from this poll is a timeframe. For example, if I'm 60 years old (I'm not, but just for arguments sake) and have admired Rolexes my whole life, then seeing 1 SS Daytona in an AD's window over the course of 40+ years would, IMO, add further support to the fact that the watch is extremely hard to come by. However, in this poll, I would have to vote that I have seen one...which as I understand it is the argument against the rarity of the watch.

Agreed about supply in Canada. Two dealers here in NL, one West coast other East. Live in the East and can walk in and try on a white or black dial no trouble at all. Discount readily available on all models. SubC, DeepSea, Milgauss GV also on hand.

Recently(end of last year) I saw one (white face, here in Eindhoven- NL, local AD), bought it... and sold it because my wife rather wears her DJ.
(because of date function).
For us, but its just us, no date no deal.

August 2009 I saw a black face SS Dayonta in the case at retail:

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...hlight=daytona

and was told the other store in this chain had another one as well.

Gone now I assume, but they said it wasn't selling.

My AD still had both black and wite dial SS Daytonas in the display case at MRSP, as of a week ago. They thought one or both might have sold during the Christmas season, but nope, both were still there.

Just out of curiosity, what is the current MSRP in Canada for the SS Daytona? In the US I believe it's $10,400.

Thanks - definitely more expensive in Canada then, maybe that's one factor in why they seem to be more readily available in Canada.

I live in Los Angeles, and I am actually in the market for my first Rolex. I've been looking at the Daytonas because I want a larger size face. I love the way the black and white dials look, but in all the ADs here I can only find the rose colored and mixed metals. And those don't look as nice when I try them on. The dealers here say they can get the black or white dial in a month. Not sure if they are just saying that to get me to buy from them.

Wow I'm actually surprised by these results. I personally have been into a bunch of watch stores in and around Boston (AD and not) recently and haven't seen any stainless steel ones - lots of gold, but no SS (and no everrose, which I'd love to see).

However, it sounded like people were starting to see them - guess not though.

I have seen two on display over the last year: one was in Hiroshima, Japan (yes, I know....not the US). The other was in Phoenix, AZ, and I purchased it. Every other AD I have been to did not have one. Who knows if the supply has increased / decreased. But, it seems apparent, in my opinion, that demand has gone down; the resale value craziness seems to have "settled down" from a few years ago.

Only once about a year ago in the display case. It was a black dial. The sales guy pointed it out to me, just in case I hadn't noticed.

I believe it's because of the price increase that make's daytona's more available. Think about it the watch was half the price 6 or 7 years ago and the economy was much much better. Watch lovers didn't think twice about spending $5,000.00 on a daytona, but know people are losing there jobs and there homes and trying to save most of there money. Also the prices of daytona's have doubled and the us dollar rate has become much weaker. Just my .02

Interesting commentary:
I'm relatively new to the Phoenix area and a coworker had recommended a Scottsdale AD for servicing. Since she lives 5 minutes from the AD, she offered to drop two Datejusts (mine/wife's) off for a five-year service. Since, I have a BNIB SS Daytona coming in from Tony G, I was telling the coworker about the rarity of the watch. So...yesterday while she's dropping off the Datejusts, the AD asks: "why didn't he buy the Daytona from me? - I have two". I call him, expecting that his two were gold/SS, and, no, they were SSs that had arrived that day. Per Rolex policy, he doesn't take advance deposits. But...he does call favored return customers after their arrival. Having said that, I got the impression that I could have copped one for being in the right place, at the right time, and asking the right question. Selling price: $10,300+tax.

I have never ever seen a SS Daytona on display here in the UK. Other metals yes, but not the SS, the ADs even look at you as if you just asked the most ridiculous question in history if you ask if they have an SS in stock LOL
