Looks like I am late to the party, welcome to TRF and congrats on your new Sub, a very classic and timeless Rolex and it looks great on you. Wear and Enjoy

Congratulations, beautiful watch.
And it does not have a date.

Does anyone know if current GMT-Master II is available without date?

Hi Joseph,

No the GMT is not available without a date.

My guess is that if you need to know the time in different parts of the world then you also need to know the date.

You described my own experience pretty well. One day you walk into an AD and there under the glass is a watch you might have seen dozens of times before on the arms of others or in the media, but on this one occasion, the watch looks completely "new and inviting" and there is only one logical thing to do at that moment and it is to buy that watch.

It's happened to my twice.

Welcome aboard.

Not a ceramic bezel, but I would say this is a classic and a much rarer one though. Congrats on the beginning of a satisfying journey!

Thanks again!

I'm not wearing it the shower because the soap residue and water deposits might make it less awesome to look at, that's all. I'll only wash it in distilled water, or rainwater, and only pure-grain alcohol, but never vodka! (This is a Dr. Strangelove joke, FWIW). I keep checking the time routinely, and then getting a big permagrin when I realize what I'm looking at.

Now that I'm sure about the crystal, my satisfaction is complete. I actually tried on the watches with the new band, and I didn't prefer them - for whatever reason, I have a much easier time with this clasp. And I like the rattles - every time I shake the watch down on my wrist I can hear it as well as see it. I half-wish it would tick louder too!

I'm thinking that a lot of the "detail" discussions I've run across are investment-related, which was confusing for a while. I mean no offense, but when I finally understood what was meant between a "gappy" and a "no-gap" watch I laughed my $&#!* off. I mean, I still want to know, and I'm curious as to when, why, and so on, but these differences only add to my enjoyment.

My brain hurts with the amount of information I've absorbed since I bought my beauty. However, I can now almost read everything on this web site without a glossary and I've enjoyed every minute of it.

Regarding the "rattly" bracelet, I feel I must post that it saved my watch from harm! I was prepping my car for the track, and just as I was about to shove my hand down into the engine bay between some definitely unfriendly-to-watches parts, I heard a rattle. The watch is so comfortable that I forgot I was wearing it! If not for that rattle...

It appears that many of the changes that have been made to the Sub-C were differences that caused me to pick the 14060 instead - except perhaps for the ceramic improvement, the smaller case, the smaller indices, and even the lesser weight of mine were all things I noticed and personally preferred. I believe (if I understand the following terms correctly) this makes me a "Lug Hole Loyalist."

Does anyone know where I can apply to get my card so that I too can be a "Card Carrying Member of the Global Association of Retro-Grouch-Curmudgeons?"

I am greatly relieved to have found this site, as I feel the people on here probably understand this compulsion.
So you prance around and admire your reflection in the mirror with just the watch on? Any pics to share?
