Buying Out of State?
I am in the market for a new watch, most likely a GMT IIC. My experience thus far has indicated little to no discount from local AD's in my area. If you add in the 8% sales tax I have to pay for the privilege of living in NY, I am looking at about $8,500 out the door.
I know I could buy off this site and save some $, but I was thinking of another alternative. New Hampshire does not have a sales tax. They also have two AD's. I'm thinking of making a long weekend out of it and driving up there to save the tax. If I can negotiate a discount on top of the tax savings I'm that much further ahead. I realize that there are some very real costs associated with this strategy (gas, food for two, hotel...), but I figure the tax will take care of most of the additional costs. On top of a new watch my wife and I will get a nice weekend, basically for free. Thoughts? |
