In all honesty Mechanically this watch is a real superstar, Its kind of like a horrible looking car with an excellent performing and most reliable engine. There is still no doubt in my mind that Rolex will sell every piece they make.... Thats just how it is.

I like it because it is different. The watch was made for very rich people that do yacht racing or something (not me). I am sure many people thought the LV was ugly with a green bezel insert?? at first. I have no idea what inspiration was made for the Leopard Daytona or the Zebra Datejust. I guess there is something for every buyer out there. I personally don't like the NEW TOG with the new design but someone else loves it as forum members have expressed. My 2 cents

It's hard to read, hard to reset, doesn't have a SYNCH button for mis-timed start signals, doesn't have programmed 5-4-1-0 audible alarms, and doesn't have the option of repeat countdown or count down then up.
Aside from that, it's pretty good sailing watch except for the fact that it's ugly as sin. THIS is a real sailing watch, my Optimum OS-315. Programmable to the eyeballs, and if you like big it's 65 mm in diameter with 16 mm digits:

I like the YG version but it doesn't have a date. I'd like to see it in person. What sets the YM I from a TT sub? Outside of the bezel color nothing really changes. Whats wrong with a little character and new functions?

when i got my yacht master plat/ss and then heard about ym II i was all worried that im going to regret my purchase ....but then when i saw it im glad i got my ym.....
besides ....with the pricing on those ym II. i'd rather get a day date or wg daytona.. however, i guess it all comes down to what you are using them for. i'd personally prefer other complications |

Supermarz..you and I got the right Yachtmaster. You got the SS/Platinum and I got the SS/YG. The "older" ones that we have are timeless beauties. Classy. Elegant yet rugged.

I gotta' admit that there's one thing I like about it. It's so ugly that I don't want one.
This should leave me some extra money to acquire other models I like.

LOL, im sorry to report guys... i like it. IF i had oodles of money, i'd sport one on the weekends, etc.
However, I am of a younger demographic (27 years old) and I love bigger watches (ie Panerai). |

Well I hate to be the only one, however I love it! The yellow gold version in the 43 mm case with the blue ceramic bezel looks awesome on the wrist (yes I have actually tried one on).
This watch will be mine! But it will not be the next one, I need the 16400V first (guess I have weird taste).

Not in my top 100 for sure. However, I could go for the new Milgauss like The Mole.

Like the silver bezel version.
Do not like the price. Like the unique mechanical inovation by Rolex. Would not buy one, but if someone gave me one as a gift, I would wear it with pride. |

I'll stick with my 18K Yacht-Master in the original configuration. It has the champagne dial, presently. Just yesterday, I received an email from a jeweler informing me that he'd found a white MOP dial, with sapphires and diamonds. I can't wait to have that added, to max it out!

Well I absolute LOVE....
Quote:
the size of the watch, and wish Rolex would make my Yachtmaster in that size, or a Seadweller in that size. I also like the fact that Rolex was willing to step up and try something new considering that they don't have to. This particular design exercise doesn't work for me, nor does the price, but a TT or steel Seadweller with a ceramic bezel in a supercase with maxi dial would be on my wrist in a heart beat. I hope that Rolex will try some of its other watches in larger diameters with Maxi Dials We are an aging demographic of luxury watch buyers, and we will buy what we can read. |
