If selling, would u sell too a zero poster?

a seller who takes money before shipping is asking about risks?

what about buyers who send hard-earned cash and never get the goods or get something that is different from what is posted for sale?

looks like either way, both the buyer and seller are taking risks and that's why an internet transaction is always a problem.

I don't know if I had many, if any, posts when I bought my sub from DavidSW... I wired him the money, he confirmed he got it and sent me the watch.

I did my research, I just didn't post...

thanks for all the responses. Ok, so maybe I have been too quick to write off all these zero poster enquiries.
Next step; I get the wire transfer, funds are cleared, I ship the watch. What happens in the event the watch goes missing or claims the box arrived with contents missing. What recourse does the buyer have? I want to make sure that I dont get scammed. I recently did sell on this forum, but the buyer had plenty of legit posts, communication was excellent, it just felt right & it was. thanks

If you got the wire money you can't be scammed. They can try, but you got the money.

Still, I'd send it insured and signature required, and trackable.

Personally (this will be controvertial), I use Registered Mail. I have sent $50,000 coins this way with no problems. It's very secure.

Very good points above. Especially about wire transfer as a preferred payment method.

As a seller you really only have 2.5 risks:
1.) A "traditional goods sold" PayPal transaction. (Buyer Protection/Disputable)
2.) Reputation on the forum(s).
.5.) Shipping loss (but that is what proper insurance is for).

While controversial on some sales forums, you can also request a PayPal payment as "Personal/Money Owed or the nebulous Gift Option". That option removes dispute/buyer protection from you the seller. However, BUYER BEWARE, at this point. Essentially, the same 'good faith' as a Wire Transfer.

Finally, when I have sold/traded high value items (WUS), I usually like to have a telephone conversation. This lets you feel each other out.

As one of the newbies on here, I can certainly say that not all of us are scammers. Unfortunately, some of us are just new to the wonderful fine watch community. And, if we can't acquire some of these fine pieces, how are we supposed to post pics and get in the discussion? (Aside from visiting an AD and paying full retail on a new one)

PS - I'm still interested in that DateJust 16220...

I've found that it's good to belong to a few different forums while having the same username. That way, if you only have a handful of posts here, the seller can check your reputation elsewhere.

Well let's hope someone else isn't using this moniker on a different forum. I plan on using solely TRF as the others don't seem to have the same following or depth. (FYI for anyone that plans on doing future interactions with me.)
