Just saw this post Gerardo! Have been wondering about you all...so glad you're all right.

Good you still have power. I bet there's a lot to clean up but it indeed could have been worse. Hang in there

I wish you and your family well, Gerardo. Hope the whole thing tides over without too much loss to life and property.

Thank you. We are still cleaning, those 20 ft waves made a LOT of damage but nothing to worry about. Still cleaning...

Thank you JJ. We are ok, fortunately damage was only to property, no life loss, so that is good. Still cleaning up the place (pool is full of rocks and seawater, some of them wigh in excess of 400 lbs....I have no idea how we will take them out). Tonight, as we already have power and drinking water, I will seat on the beach by the ocean with a glass of Chivas 21 on the rocks, with a good Cohiba Siglo VI...just relax and admire a calm sea. Wow, that is what I call mother nature's temper.

The actual name of the Port of Call is Costa Maya/Majahual. It is gone. All of it.

It's ALL GONE? I was there on a cruise about 3 years ago and loved it - cute little town. I'm so sorry to hear that.

400 pound rocks? DAMN! Mmmm, maybe they can be used as "decoration". Or, just as a reminder as to how lucky you were.

Is your pool gunnite, vinyl, fiberglass, or concrete?

BTW, got an e-mail from Brendan (who was vacationing @ Cozumel), he foudn a plane out for 1:00 am so he was going to take it.

Saludos to all of you!

Gerardo,

Sorry to hear of the problems caused by the Dean.

Gratefully, we were able to make it out at 1:00 a.m. on Monday and ended up in CHarlotte, N.C. Once there we decided to stay a couple of days in my families mountain house in Waynesville (up in the Great Smokey Mountains), so everything turned out ok.

I am very sorry we were not able to get together as we originally planned Gerardo, but I think a category 5 hurricane was a pretty good excuse.

We'll definitely need to have a shot of tequila together next time we are down there.

BTW, the diving in Cozumel was magnificant!!

Good luck with the repairs/recovery, my thoughts are with you.

Dear Brendan:

A cat 5 hurricane is a VERY good reason to fly out; happy to know you made it ok. Looks like we will meet @ San Diego!
