You know I have to think, the only people who have ever commented on my Rolex watches, are other Rolex wearers! It is like there is a common bond amongst Rolex wearers (we all are in debt? All been told we are crazy for spending so much money on a watch? All cherish old school vintage mechanical things? Who know, but a bond is there).

I definitely don't want people noticing my watch. Most of my good friends don't even know my GMT-II is a Rolex. They don't ask, and I don't talk about it.

Frankly, I'm a little ashamed of it. It was a gift, and I wear it and appreciate it, but I have friends whose cars are worth less than my watch.

Plus, I don't want to be known as the Rolex guy. Sorry, guys, but where I come from, fancy jewelry on a man -- especially a Rolex -- doesn't present a positive image.

Pete, you've got a bad case of "Rolex guilt".
If the Rolex was a gift, someone must really care for you.You should wear the gift with love, not guilt.

Rolex guilt is never good. I still have a little bit in me... I tend to "hide" my watch when friends are around. I really don't know why.

Rolex guilt is bad, but Rolex jealousy is worse!!

My boss cought sight of my sub and quizzed me as to how I could afford it!! Even though he has at least 3 that I have seen!!

I told him it wasn't brought with what he pays me!! now he's p****d!!

I wish i'd said as above - Get over it!

Well, honestly, I wear it with a bit of both.

My GMT-II was a college graduation gift from my father, and I really do cherish it. Plus, it's a kickass watch, so how could I not?

But I still hide it when I can.

It's not so much the fact that it's an expensive watch. I have other watches that were quite pricey [also gifts]. But it's a lot easier to down-play, say, an IWC, compared to a Rolex.

It's kind of ironic, but I'd probably feel more at ease sporting a Patek.

Very good point!

Rolex design is known by pretty much every human being on this planet (and by some sheep, too, btw).

But an IWC or Patek only WIS would recognize, but wearing either of those magnificent brands would give YOU that feeling of wearing something very, very special.

In my case, when I work, with a dress shirt you can`t see it and when I`m not working or have a home office day, I dress like a beach bum, in a trendy kind of way, so I`m sure if its noticed people would like, there is no way thats a rolex. :-) Prolly the same about my cars; Now Rose where do think he stole that car?

Well I can't say I bought my LV Sub so people would notice it, no way. I bought it because I liked it. Chad hit the nail on the head "the only people who have ever commented on my Rolex watches, are other Rolex wearers!"

This is very true. People are so busy today that they don't really care what watch you wear. It is all relevant to what your poison is, will the average Joe who uses a vehicle for strictly transportation know what a Ferrari is? Would a person who has never held a gun know what a Glock is or even what a S.A.W. is?
